did I get a light too large for my tent?

I made an impulse decision and bought a dimmable 600w hps/mh with an air cooled hood for my 4x2x5 tent.

I an on cooling the light with a 250 cfm fan, in one side, out the other in 6" ducting. I then have another 250cfm fan with a carbon filter expelling the air within the main part of the tent. Intake will be passive.

Is this doable? I grow 12/12 in coco, hesi nutes.

Yes its doable.

Look for a user called HYDROCROPPER420.

He utilises a pretty similar tent with a 600w.

why not, I think most Ppl. say a 600W cover 4x4 ft as a rule of tump, and the core cover is 3x3 I used one in a 3x4 ft space, so why not 2x4, main key is to keep it cool as Im sure is your concern as well, if you can do that and keep em short enough for the light/distance (witch is about 12" with a prober cool hood on it) with your 5ft hight Im sure it will work and all of your plants/bud`s will get good strong light

at least you got the hood, with out I would say it would be hard to keep it under 80F but with it, it might be possible

I was mostly worried about not paying the money for a more powerful fan. I can get a speed controller, so I guess I should have gotten one in case. But the math seemed to work with what I purchased.

if you have two 250CMF ventilations so you can run the light and filter separately Im pretty sure it will work, tho you should still expect temperatures to raise a few over ambi temps

I had like 88F with a 600W running, with a 6" (480CMF) vent on I got it down on 82F with a cool hood on the light I could keep it around them 76-80F most of the time, tho summer time I still had problems as my ambi temperature got to 80F on its own (why I use LEDs now)
