Did I harvest too early??

Hey, folks. Forgive me if you've heard this one before..

Outdoor grow; Northern climate. We saw 29 degrees F last nite and so I covered most of my plants but chopped 3 (Bruce Banner "Fast"). Brown pistils, trichs all over the place (some cloudy, couple amber, some clear). Attached are some shitty pics. The first and third pics are good representations of the bulk of the plant(s).. almost exclusively brown pistils, largely exposed (i.e. not receded). Beginning to think I cut em a little early. Any thoughts? Obviously there's not much I can do about it now. Wishing I had waited until pistils receded but I'm wondering how critical that is. Have I only given up some potency? My primary concern honestly is that I'll find myself with that hay/barn smell associated with an early harvest as this is something I've experienced in the past. I don't mind a milder flower w/ slightly less THC. Thanks for your time. Happy harvest, folks..

It think if you waited a couple weeks you would of gotten a bigger yield, doesn't look like the buds have undergone their final swell. However, by looking at the pictures you've got a couple real suspicious spots on some of the leaves, that I think would of developed into bud rot had they gone much longer, so 6 of one, half a dozen of the other. Still nice looking weed!

Thanks for the helpful reply. Think I'm at much risk of this stuff smelling like hay when all's said and done? I've experienced that as a side effect of a premature harvest in the past but I don't remember how far ahead of the game I was that year.. I think it was quite a bit too early all told. I understand it to be maybe related to the excessive amount of chlorophyl yet in the plant when harvested too soon?? Leads to hay-ish smell? No sweat if you've no comment on this.. thanks for your time.

Curing is a integral part of the process, if dried slowly and at a low temp and at about 60% R/H it should get rid of that fresh mowed grass smell. The chlorophyll (which is where that smell comes from) will break down until you get to about 50-55% R/H, when the bio action will stop. Most people hang their weed for several days, trim it (you can do that before hanging then jar it with a hydrometer (about $12 a dozen on Amazon). It'll probably read in the 70-80% range at first, then you open the jar every day or two for 30-60 minutes to get rid of the excess moisture, then close it back up again, the R/H will climb back up, but less than when you opened it. Continue that process daily until you get the R/H down to around 60%, might take a few weeks. You may get other opinions, but that's mine.

Agreed, just had to take down an OG Kush for the same reason.

Couple weeks would have helped it but sometimes you gotta do what you gotta do
