Did I ruin my cure?

So I hung my big buds to dry for 8 days and my small ones for 6. Had them in my grow tent with the vent going on low and the temp was 65f and humidity around 45%. When I took them down, most of the stems still had some flex and didn't break. Of course the smaller ones snapped a bit. The buds felt pretty dry on the outside but really sticky and if I squished them a bit they felt a little wet. Fast forward to 24 hours after being in the jars and the one with the big buds was 44% and the one with the small buds was near the same. I have my accurite thermometer/hygrometer in the big jar with a new battery and I'm pretty sure this things accurate. How can it possible be 44% humidity in there, woukdnt the buds be crumbling to dust? A little lost on what to do here and I really hope they arn't completely ruined

For example this one feels pretty spongy and doesn't crumble all over the place if I squish it a bit. Also, when they've been sitting in the jar a while, they stick together a bit untill I shake them around in the jar a bit then they come apart. Doesn't make sense that they would be at 44% humidity in there but then again I'm not sure

Doesn't seem like much is wrong to me. I think we overthink this stuff too much sometimes. If it feels right in your hands, then go with what you feel. Not much of an answer, sorry, it just sounded like everything was going as it should if you take the hygrometer out of the equation.

If they are sticking together they are a bit damp inside yet,Your Hygrometer could be off. I would open and burp your jars daily for a few weeks to make sure they don't develop mold or that funky smell.

Get a boveda, has the same problem chucked one in there for a couple weeks and my supposedly shitty cheap hygrometers hit the exact % the boveda packs said and my bud was perfect

If in fact the humidity dropped to 44% , you have stopped the cure, so you can re-hydrate but the cureing process is done. Don't fear though, you can't assume you flowers will suc

They definitely weren't wet when I put them in the jar, I guess I meant when I squeezed them they were sticky, not wet. Yea even tho my reading is low humidity I've been opening them up once a day for like 10 min and shaking them around because the last thing I want is suprise mold. They don't smell like hay, but don't have any super typical bud smell unless I squish one. They all feel dry, but I attached a photo of what I meant by they kind of stick together. If I shake the jar just a little they all come loose. I have a crappy reptile hygrometer in the same jar that seems to read about 10 higher. The high reading on the digital was when I blew into it to see if it would change lol. Il get some of those humidity packs and hope for the best hahah

The ones for rooms don't work well in jars. If using the one for a room I put my buds in a large rubber maid tote and tape shut and wait 24 hours for it to level off.

I would say your meter is off. That sticky and not crumbling 2would be higher than 44 percent I would think.

I actually don't even use one.

Sounds like the smaller buds were ready to be sweat out in a jar and the bigger buds not so much. When they are crispy..sweat the rest if the water out in a jar and lay them back out to dry again. I really think its a missconseption about whats the exact way to cure i.e. precise humidity levels, duration, left on the stem or not..

A good point.

I normally group my buds by size. I break big buds down into smaller buds.

I sometimes expect to have to pull them back out of the jars.

If they feel dry I jar. Sometimes after a day they feel wet again. I remove and put in paper bags for a day if needed then jar again.

I have only used a meter once on my buds. It was around what I expected.

With time it gets easier.

I used to use Integra packs instead of Boveda, they keey your cure at 55% humidity. I'm actually not using them right now, just burping my jars, but I liked the integra's. What exactly is your question about your cure? If you have crispy buds, thats because of your drying process. Personally I think 45% humidity is too low to dry in, If i did 45%, i'd only get 3 days out of my drying process. I aim for 60% humidity at 60 degrees. gets my a 5-7 day dry on my plants.
