Diesel Ryder 250w CFL Grow

Yeah dude, get a digital PH meter (like $30) and some ph up and down to change your water. You want a pH between 6.5 and 7.0.

Those leaves look like the result of a pH issue, the spots look like calcium deficiency or something. It's still real early in the morning though.

Once you adjust your pH your plants will do great. When your pH is off, it blocks some nutrients from being taken into the plant. Once you get the pH at an optimal level the plant is absorbing all nutrients and will be growing as good as it can. A bad pH can slow you down though

So yeah, get a ph meter, and some ph up/ down. Your plants will love you for it

400w HPS has arrived!

So i got my 400w Hps today and i was wondering how far away i should have it from my plants. Im use to CFLs but im pretty sure HPS are different.

What do you guys think? The chart says 6-21 inches but how far away should it be?

Looks good bro, I don't know much about hps lights but I know it needs some distance. I would start at 21" and see how they do, maybe move it down a few inches at a time and watch them close. I wouldn't go closer than a foot..

Its prob not a good idea to do this but i put it at 1 foot.... how does light hurt a plant? the temps are at 79f.

Good point, I guess you will find out:)

+Rep to you sir! I didn't even notice the plants lol.. Must be some good shit I'm smokin right. Plants look really healthy bro, I'm looking forward to seeing what that hps does for them! Setup looks nice too.

I was thinking, does that have a the glass that came with it? Like the cool tube effect? If so I'm sure you will be fine at a foot! If not thats probably the perfect distance if it doesn't burn them.

doesn't matter haha, i still wanna see how your DR's turn out under an hps. I was thinking of getting a MH but the temperature in my cab is on average 85, and I am sure an HID light would bring that up a lot more.

I dont really know much about the aircooling hoods but the one i have dropped the temps from 85 to 79 so im alright with that lol.

dam those are some great plants good job

Thanks man, im at a month and two days. I heard the plants just get fatt after that so im looking forward to it!

I wish my cat didnt eat my seedsman white widow because that would have been cool to have under the HPS.

Well I mean I would of course get an air cooled reflector with an MH. How loud is the fan running in yours? Because I don't want it to be too loud really.

well i have a 435 cfm and its prety loud, i would have gotten something lower like i saw a 168 but i dont know if that would do the job and cool the bulb.

So does anyone know how far away the hood should be from the plants???

I have a standard 400W HPS (not cooled) it is about 8-9 inches from the tops of my Lowryder's - just do the hand test.. if it's too uncomfortable for the back of your hand it will be too uncomfortable for your plants.. You could easily get the cooled hood 6 inches from the plants I reckon..test with your hand 1st though!

K sweet thanks man, so if heat isnt a problem the chart above suggested that 6 inches is best.

So does the glass get 6 inches away or the actual bulb?
