Different styles of Rdwc systems?

Hey guys, new around here been looking at all kinds of posts, but generally I see a lot of the same. I was just wondering if anyone has seen any different styles of Rdwc systems? Like something off the wall you don’t see every day?

im looking to build a system now and have alot of ideas but I’m just trying to find more info and ideas to try to make the best and most efficient system I can. Any help would be much appreciated!

I would think as long as the roots get what they need, a system could be built in any sort of configuration you could think of. I use a ebb and flow system mounted to the wall. I train the plants sideways to lay flat. This allows me to access the entire room from underneath. All this is about 3 feet from the floor. I think it's great, my friends think I'm crazy.

what I’m thinking of doing myself is an aeroponics setup with 12 gallon totes for the root system and those would drain down to 27 gallon totes on the bottom. I was figuring to give the roots a pretty big area to grow without having much to tangle in such as going thru the tubes and stuff. Hadn’t seen anything like it yet? Thank u for ur reply would love to see it!

With what I've seen, roots in tubes are ok. They stay straight and come out easy like hair out of a drain. My veg is undercurrent with waterfalls in each 27 gal tote. I usually have 2 plants per tote. I grow them 3ft tall. And by then the roots have been separated multiple times and they still are grown together. I damage roots on transfer and shock my plants.

I'm thinking of changing it. If you use shower drains in the bottom of the tote directly under each plant, then have a long enough length of pipe back to a main res, the roots could be in the tube. Plants could be as close as you want with out tangling them.

Most people will say your nuts for wanting some crazy system.....
I'm not one of those people

Haha I feel I’m kinda nuts on it myself but I’m taking it as far as I can lol. I went and got all my totes and a shelving for it. I have my basic design already.

I’ve decided the top res that with house each plant will have aeroponic spray heads in it and I’m think of doing multiple small drain holes that will go back down to the return to get more water movement. I’m thinking of going without and air pump and using a water circulation pump for movement in the bottom res, it would be quieter than an air pump also they are cheaper to run.

I’m still putting together lots of ideas as of now to figure the whole system out lol
