Differentiating m/f question

I have read that switching to a 12/12 light schedule will allow me to tell if I have m or f plants. Well, my plants are about 1 1/2 mos old and I would really like to find out sex. So my question is this: Can I go to a 12/12 light schedule, find out sex, then go back to my 17/7 schedule to continue vegging, w/out harming the plants or jeopardizing yeild? Any answers are appreciated.

No question is retarded, but im sure if you googled your question you would find tons of answers.

The only thing that will happen, is that the growth of the plant will be delayed for a week or 2.

If you have other reasons for keeping the plants in veg, just take some cuttings and root them and then place in 12/12... make sure you mark which clone came from which plant. You can sex the clones and then know the sex of the host plants.
