DIFF's 3rd Indoor Grow Journal

Ok, I haven't been on this forum for almost 10 years. My indoor grow back then was 6 plants. Ended up with 3.5 ounces from 2 plants (one hermed on me and had seeds, other was very potent female). I haven't found a seed in my weed for few years, but a few days ago I finally found one. I'd been itching to do another grow, so here we are.

I've ordered some more seeds (White widow, master kush), but to get back in the swing of things, I will only be using this 1 seed first run. If it grows nuts on me, I will chalk it up as a practice run.

5/30 Germinated via paper towel method
6/1 Planted in fox farms ocean Forest soil

That's it so far. I am going to be doing a closet grow. Leaning toward MH lamp for veg and HPS for flower.

Right after my first post, I found 2 seeds in a Ziploc bag, not sure what bud they came from. Decided to scratch ordering more seeds and just germinate these 2. I've had them for awhile, but one has already sprouted and was put in soil tonight. I'll give the 3rd seed a few more days.

The original seed (unknown strain) poked it's head out of the soil this morning. I can see the 2nd set of leaves already forming! She is under a 65watt LED.

The 2nd seed was planted an hour ago, so she's under another 65watt LED.

The 3rd seed (if it sprouts) will have a third and final 65watt LED on it.

Ok, for anyone following this, I've decided on my setup. I'll be growing 3 plants per run. I've ordered the following items.

3'x2'x5' grow tent
300W LED Grow Light
(3) 3 gallon Grow Bags w/ handles
Fox Farms Trio (Grow Big, Big Bloom, Tiger Bloom)

I already have some FFOF soil, ph testing equipment, fans, distilled water. I'll be able to vent straight out of the grow tent and out a nearby window without much problem. 300W LED will definitely be enough for veg stage, might add a few secondary lights in flowering if needed.

I've been preparing for this for a few months, so i'm excited and ready to see what kind of results I can produce!

Pics would be helpful or interesting.

My supplies will be arriving Tuesday. I'll be spending the day getting everything all set up. I will post pics throughout the day.

Gave each 3 gallon pot 1/2 gallon of distilled water. This will be their final home. I plan to veg for 3 weeks on 18/6.

You should've put them in solo cups or a smaller cup before the big pots. It will make them veg out slow until it develops a root system. It won't hurt it. Jus takes more time. If you put them in solo cups. Slit the sides and put holes in the bottom. Let them get a good root system then you can just peel the cups and put str8 into 3gals without the shock/stunting of transplant. Bc you don't bother the root system. They will explode when you transplant from solos. Just advice. Take it with a grain of salt.

Why exactly did you feel the need to give them all 1/2 gallon of distilled water? I'm just curious as to the literature you read on here that caused you to do that.

This is the kind of information that makes 1+1=3 on this site. He's telling you to let your plant get rootbound. Do not follow that advice. You are just as well off starting in your final pot, just water carefully. The problem with larger pots, is it's easy to over-water. Hence, a lot of newbs (not excluding myself) tend to suggest transplanting up, cause we can't figure out how to water properly.

That's all that is. People don't know how to water properly and think starting out smaller and letting your plants get rootbound is the answer. No. Plant in final pots, and water properly. learn how to do it the right way, the first time. Then take on transplanting. Transplanting should actually be considered more advanced, if done properly, even though MJ takes well to it. Some other plants would say see ya! It's a stressful event and should be minimized.

The reason they "explode" when you transplant them is because, surprise, their root system isn't bound-up anymore.

To the OP: Welcome back, dude. 10 years is a long time. I must ask: Why are you still dealing with bagseed as opposed to some of the genetics that are running now? I could understand if you were running old, rare genetics, but it's just bagseed. Why?

First of all no I did not tell him let it get root bound. If you put a seed srr8 in a 3gal pot the feeder root gets super long before it sends feeder ladder roots out. So you are wrong. A simple Google search tells you that. It's people like you thst give wrong and false info. That' why 98% of people who grow transplant multiple times.

You plant autos in final pots not photo periods. Let the people who know what they are talking about give advice. Bc you apparently aren't one of them. I mean Jesus there's a search point on Riu that you can use to prove yourself wrong. But i am not wasting my time to show you.

I see like most other forums, this one has become toxic as well. Grow journals used to be here to share your story. I will not let it ruin my experience here though. Hopefully the negativity ends here.

Well why didn't you just say so

With all lights running for 18 hours straight, my temperature is at 80 degrees inside the tent.

2 days under the LED light (+ (2) 65w LED & 51w CFL) and they have grown some. The soil looks like i'll be watering tomorrow (it's been 60 hours since watering). I may wait til Saturday morning, but I doubt it.

I originally had them in a small spot. I can agree that I should have left them in the smaller pot for a week or two before transplanting. Oh well, at least I won't have to deal with any more risk of transplant shock.

It's one of those things that growers are split on. You wouldn't have had to worry about transplant shock at all if you didn't transplant them. Sometimes you can't help it, though. I'll never transplant up again, personally. But that's veggies talking. Easy to forget bud is a vegetable. Smells a lot better
