Digilux 1000W Bulb Failed in 1 Month

New to the game, upgraded to a Digilux bulb over what came with the 1000W Virtual Sun Electric Ballast. It has been five weeks and today it wouldn't spark. Saw a blue streak in the bulb and then nothing. Replaced with unmarked HPS bulb that came with and it fired with no problem. Just a bad bulb or am I screwing something up? Thanks.

did you unplug the ballast than put the bulb in then turn it on? cant really screw that one up.... sounds like a bad bulb email the place you got it from about it they wil probably replace it if you recently bought it.

Most, if not all, come with a 1 year warranty. I found numerous bulbs fail because of harsh shipping environments- banging, knocking, dropping, etc. This typically weakens the life of the bulb.

Agree... whomever you purchased it from should have knotched out the month and yr you purchased it(at the base of the part that screws in) to validate the 1yr warranty.

Thanks to all for the quick replies. Glad to see a consensus suggesting that I didn't fuck up. I did try the re-boot and am plugged directly into a segregated wall socket. Trying to do this thing right and it's kinda been one curveball after another, it's why I really appreciate the forum and the help.

Not sure about your ballast but mine wont come right back on if its hot. Is it possiblt that by the time you switched bulbs
it was ready to start.
Unless the bulb had already been off for a good while before you tried it you might want to let it sit 15 minutes off and r try that 1000 again. I know it sounds stupid but the last quarter turn is tight so make sure it is fully screwed in.

I just thouht of something else. If your running a switchable ballast with 1000w bulb on a lower setting it will
decrease bulb life even though it says it is ok on the box. Same for turbo.
At least that is what I have been told by the hydro guy and other reliable people.
I still would expect way more than 1 month.

You dont hear about it as much anymore but people use to freak about finger grease being left on the bulbs.
I`m not sure it it is no longer a problem or what but I always try not to touch mine and always wipe it down like an old OCD cat lady

I think it's a good idea to unscrew the bulb, when it's cool, and try screwing it back in again. Then fire it up. It's worked for me once or twice before. I run my 1000 watters on turbo but change them out ever 3 crops, instead of 4. I've been getting mine from HTG Supply- they are cheaper then most, have 150,000 lumens at the start, made for digital ballasts (heavy duty) and have been trouble free. The grease on the bulb- the bulbs will burn hotter where the finger marks are on the bulb and can shorten life considerably. I clean mine at last once a month and am careful not to touch it w/o wiping it clean.
