are they good or what? i hear the digital ballasts are more efficient and produce more light.. just debating if i should get a 400w or a 600w .. thanks

i doubt the digital ballast produces more light, what it does is allow mh and hps fixtures to run off the same ballast. Get the size thats suitable to your space

its is supposed to be more efficent more lumens than magnetic how much idk but i believe they produce more lumens thans standard magnetic that being said im still using a magnetic

Go with the 600. I wouldn't waste my time with a 400W system mostly because their isn't that huge of a price difference between a 400W and a 600W. Also a 600W is more efficient and you can't go wrong with having more light. The more the better.

Most of the 600's have a fan built in and the 400's do not. This might be a factor also in longevity. The digital ballasts starts up faster, are quite (do not make that humming noise) and they are more efficient which lowers your electricity cost. Although only a little. You also do not need to change ballasts to go from a MH to a HPS although some conversion bulbs are available. They are all around better but the price.
