Digital timer stuff up /FOX TAILS

never again will I own a digital standalone timer for lights- was set at 18/6 for autos's every thing was going great untill daylight saving.Went fishing for 4 days every was set up no issues, cam home and the timer stuffed set and re-set to 6 on 18 off dont know how but took a couple to work it out - stuffed up flowering. This has changed everything for the plants as nearly finished ... the heat/ light /dark / RH all up the shit autos dont like that shit -

Autos veg/flower cycles aren’t triggered like photoperiods. Supposedly they can flower under any light schedule. I guess there’s always room for error. I agree with you on digi timers. Mechanical all the way. No matter what time it is when daylight savings hits.. the timer still stays on the same schedule.

Timers don't magically change their timing schedules. Sounds like you made a mistake setting them after DST and you didn't catch it. Don't blame the timer.

As far as the foxtails it's probably just poor genetics and nothing to do with the light schedule for a few days.

Agreed. My timers don't change for dst, only the schedule. My schedule changed from 3 o'clock on/3 o'clock off, to 4 o'clock on/4 o'clock off, with dst. The time on the timer never changed though.

I just had a mechanical timer kick on during it's off cycle last night. It was hooked up to a irrigation machine, so it wasn't that big of a deal, but still. I've always used digital timers with no issues.

Yeah, I don't bother with it either. They dont know what DLS time is anyways.

Change the time on your microwave for DST. Leave the timer for your lights alone.

If you had a wifi thermometer/hygrometer in your tent/room you'd know there was a problem way sooner. Just checking it regularly would show you that your light/dark timing was off. I watch all these people grouse about their timers, but a cheapass 30$ piece of kit gives all the info you need anywhere you go. Check your graph, if you notice that temps aren't hitting where they do for lights on, you know you've got a problem.

Mechanical timers? Power goes off and the timer stops. Right? Digital that’s not a problem. But you have to be smart enough to know how to use one. Digital any day.

timer switched off did not re set (power went down for 2 hours when DL come in - had a brown out as they say ) , was doing random lights off/on,as I said it changed the whole grow room environment. No one went into the grow rooms for 4 1/2 days, 2 rooms fine, 1 room foxtails ( 1 x strain ) - as for the shit genetics- well I wont say Mephisto Sour Stomper is shit .

@LeastExpectedGrower agree- dont have wifi senors, may have look into them..

You can tell when you have a blackout because they go down.

easy enough. And you can tell when your timer is messed up because the temps won't match your timing routine.

I don't know what kind of digital timers everyone uses, but my cheap one will last days if not weeks without power.

Just had a couple quick outs (couple seconds), happy with covered manual timers. I am rural and on a hilltop. Was terrible 10 years ago, better now but still rural and on that hilltop though. Happy to be all LED Boards.

The first few years we lived in our house we had similar issues...lots of black/brown outs and on a windy/rainy day we'd get short (10 to 60 second) outages to the extent that I called National Grid and let them know we'd had over 20 short outages in a 24 hour period. The came in re-did the lines and it's been much better ever since, but weather will be weather and we still do have occasional blackouts, etc.

This last we3k has seen lightning all around, over and over, but a truck also totaled itself as well as local electricity. Then just down the other side of the hill a tree took out lines on a steep grade and a tree broke into may neighbor's house taking out a wall and about killed my neighbor.

Manual timers all the way out in the country.

Yeah, I have some manuals in the house that have functioned for years if not decades without failure. I got a decent newer one for my lights because I wanted something a bit heftier for the bigger draw of my LED's but I love the ease of use, lifting/dropping the pins and if I need to adjust I just twist that knob to set the time.

Sonoff smart switches controlled via the Google Home app on my phone. I would never use a dedicated timer again, mechanical or digital.
