Rolled outta bed yesterday morning before the sun came up, made a cup of coffee, smoked a bowl, put some reggae on (10ft Ganja Plant to be exact.... it seemed fitting) , then started to chop these ladies down. Such a proper way to start harvest day!
The darker of the 2 DKB was definitely ready to come down, the other DKB and the Sugar Canes could have gone another week I think but because of life circumstances, they had to come down yesterday.
This is only my 3 successful harvest, and best one to date so im still a newb at this. I feel my first two were good grows for a beginner but my drying temps and humidity were not optimal and dried too quickly resulting in lost terps and smoothness and flavor. I felt like what was left after about 6 months of curing though, the flavor and smoothness definitely improved.
This time I'm drying in my 3x5 grow space. I have my Intake and exhaust fans on half speed, and at first I had my 2 circulating fans off, but now have positioned one above and one below at ground level, and I only have them at the first setting, level 1 which is just barely putting out a very gentle breeze above and below the hanging plants. When the exhaust and intake fans were on full speed, the humidity was hard to keep at 55-60%. By running them at half speed I was able to keep the humidity steady at 60% with the humidifier running at just below the lowest setting. I have the the AC cranking in my house at 70⁰F. That's way cooler than I like for myself but dealing with it until these plants are dry. I really don't want to turn the thermostat down more, but the temp in the space is steady at 65⁰F. I've heard 60 degrees is ideal, so am I really sacrificing some terps with it being at 65⁰F?
Just before the chop
