Dirty Weed Proof of Concept

I have caused a few stems to get some pretty nasty scars on them through this technique but she seems to bounce back after only two days. already all the tops are pointed back at the lights and getting their bloom on. The oldest parts of the stalks are very rigid so this last time was pretty tough.

the scrubber I linked is pretty small. I dont remember if you have a full cab setup or if youre just growing in your basement, so I dont know if such a small one will be good enough. The TrueAir website does sell several different sizes though. I am still pretty confident that this will work, I just need to figure out how to rig it up. I plan on checking at my local big box store today to see if I can pick one up.

I am going out of town for the next two days so theyre going to be on their own. hope its all good.

Nearly finished with my cabinet. Just need to get the lights in there and get some temp readings. I also need to figure out how to get a carbon filter going. The Febreze thing I posted looked a little awkward. I went to the big box store and it was very big and the actual carbon filter was very small. I think I may go back and just get some of the filters for other air fresheners and fit it over my exhaust with a rubber band. I do have some activated carbon and stockings but what I just said sounds easier.

I am having some pistils brown. not sure if this is normal. if any of you pros are still monitoring this any advice would be appreciated.

I also included a pic of what I hope to just be a female organ and not a sign of hermie.

ordered some pyrethin spray to kill the fucking white flies.

I wish I could help you with the pistil thing, I do know that they turn brown later on but Im not sure if they should be now or not.

As for the white fly thing, you could put some bug strips in the cabinet to help and spray the plants with water and a bit of dishsoap, so far it seems to work
for me so it might help you in the fight...lol

I saw a picture of a nice homemade scrubber, I will try to find it again you may be interested in trying it out.

little update. some pics of my LST development. I think the one that I didnt top looks pretty groovy. a couple of pics of the one I did LST, with some shots of the leaves that are turning yellow, as well as the nute burn that happened as a result of me adding too much N... sad... I am probably also spraying too much insecticidal soap. which leads me to...

I discovered that I do not have whiteflies. Whiteflies are white. What I have are called fungus gnats and the cure is to put about a half inch of sand on the soil. I should have known the dude at my local headshop probably didnt know what he was talking about. The cure is a bit easier, but takes a lot longer as the larval stage is several weeks.

I also fucking misplaced my sack. It was pretty terrible swag but I cant bring myself to buy anything else until I find it. I am pretty good at misplacing things.

Thanks for the props guys. I really appreciate it. This was definitely a learning process. I guess I am doing pretty good considering I started my seedlings with no proper equipment or idea how to grow. But if I had learned myself a little more I probably wouldnt have had so many problems.

I got some sand over my soil to hopefully kill the gnats. FUCK THOSE GNATS! seriously they were breeding unchecked and I was killing atleast 30 a day.

Here are some more picks. I think I have some nute deficiency. Rust spots. Checked my BUDS for less book and my yellowing is probably just natural and inline with his day 40. which is pretty close to where I am in terms of flower time compared to his. I went to pick up some tiger bloom but they were out. might order it off amazon but trying not to order anything to my place just yet.

Picking up the fan tomorrow and finishing my cab. going to build a light setup as close to SeeMoreBuds in the book as possible to get more light penetration. If anyone has his book, I would guess I am around day 40-45 in terms of his progress I mean. Will start comparing mine to his to see how much longer I have to go before harvest. At least a month I would guess.

Anyway /rant heres the pics. time to write a philosophy paper....

edit. - hairs arent really showing up for the pics today. but theyre there. id put myself right at his day 40. if I am lucky ill be able to harvest before I go out of town next month.

I would trim some of the lower leaves that are totally yellow... not much chance they will come back. Good luck with the gnat issue...

Thanks man. I am probably going to remove the leaves soon. Still on the hunt for some local Tiger Bloom. Hopefully that nips it in the bud... so to speak...

Thanks man. the pyrethrin spray concentrate came in the mail today, but after I added the sand, I have only seen a couple. I think I am going to wait a couple more days to make sure there are no adverse affects and then add some more sand. I guess I am going to get a funnel also, when I water it moves the sand all around and kicks up some of the bark shit that the flies apparently live on. No more Miracle Grow, apparently its mostly plant matter and fungus and bugs love it.

I am not too great at taking the pics. I dont do them justice. Hopefully when I get the proper nutes in there they get bigger. right now they have very little smell and arent noticeably blowing up. very little size increase in the last few days.

was going to add some more pics but the tool isnt working. aye aye aye... two more weeks of finals then this semester is behind me. Going back to school was a good idea but I always regret it during finals. Still cant find my stash, so I cant even use the methodman/redman method of studying..

pic update. The bigger one is from the plant I didnt top. Pretty interested in seeing if the plant with the big top puts out more bud than the one with a bunch of little tops. About to work on my cab for a while. hopefully get everything but the lights in there and do the lights in the morning. My girls mom is going to be here tomorrow so that needs to get done. got a little earl gray in me to wake my ass up.

these pics might be better. nearly done with the cabinet. paint job is a little ugly but better than nothing. used kilz primer and it was like painting with water. But its pretty flat white and should get the job done. Got my inline fan wired up, its pretty loud. will probably insulate the top part of the cabinet with a towel or something.

ordered a microscope, scale, and a few other things. oh and tiger bloom. my local shop wont have any for over a week.

one of the pics I included is of a leaf with a strange coloration. its almost like its burned but I really havent been doing much nutes. I also flushed a bit yesterday. probably put a gallon through each pot. the sand is keeping quite a bit of the moisture locked in. this could be a good way to counteract moisture loss in the future for people who have temps in the 80s.

so i guess it looks like I probably burned them when I added some grow big. I did it to try and counteract the calmag def. and it didnt work. so I guess I have N burn and cal mag def. NICE ONE!

I have the feeling I should have transferred to bigger pots a couple weeks ago. but space is too limited. I guess I will just have to rough this one then start in smaller pots, then switch to the 8in when I get to flower. I feel like this is a big contributor to my spots and shit. I also cant find any plastic square pots. I may actually buy some cheap plants at the local big box place and just dump them out.

I am surprised the smell is so low so far. only smells like a plant.

hopefully get them in my cab tonight. just need to guy buy some ducting to make an exit for the exhaust.

Yeah, shipping sucks. I plan on going into the metropolis soon to a big hydro shop and hopefully they have some.

went and bought some more shit for my fan/filter and the cost is much higher than some other peoples on here. I guess my hardware store is just a ripoff. They sell hot cheetos though, so they cant be all bad. I think I have most the parts I need now though. pics should be up in a few hours.

not sure if this thing is positioned well or maybe the fan just sucks. its supposed to be 210CFM but it doesnt feel like that. any suggestions?

after some tinkering, I have realized this fan is more powerful than the bathroom fan that I am currently using for exhaust. I think if i can get enough circulation fans going it should be fine. Now I just have to figure out what to do about sound. think I will get some old towels and line the top. Anxiety attack averted momentarily atleast.

no carbon filter yet. I was going to get this febreze true air contraption but it was very bulky and its ability was kind of doubtful. I could probably stick it in my cab but it would be cumbersome. I may still get it. but the replacement filters come in packs of 3 for $8 and are 6" circles, so I may just tape it over the intake of my exhaust fan.

I have very little smell at this point. Just the plant smell, which is kind of nice as my apartment gets stuffy.
