Disconnecting socket from switch?

The cfls in my closet are plugged into an outlet that also controls the room light. This outlet is controlled by a wall switch, which I use to turn on/off the lights. Does anyone know how I could disconnect the one socket in the outlet used for my cfls from the switch so I can turn the room light off without turning off the grow lights?

Arent there any other sockets? Because there is a way to do it but it means you gotta rewire the room, and unless your an electrician (which I know your not because of this thread) dont do it.

Yea thanks I got a lamp with its own switch and connected the two wires that were on the inside of the wall switch, which basically disconnected the switch so that it doesn't get turned off by mistake.

As a suggestion, I have seen sometimes where only one socket is wired to the switch, while the other is constantly hot. Did you by chance check that out? Man I hate when they do that shit.

LOL! If that's so then he wouldn't have the problem that he's having.

HUH??? Outlets have two sockets right? Yes. For instance, the top socket is wired to the wall switch(the wrong way), the bottom is constantly hot(the right way as far as I am concerned). I have seen this a million times, but I have seen 2 million times where they go ahead and wire both sockets to the switch(the fucked up way). Its just something to check. This used to be really common in houses 30 years old or older, or in apartments where they did not put in ceiling lights.:hump::hump:
