Thankfully im legal here.
Yeah plus you sound like your a legit electrician lol. Hopefully i can convince people that arnt, not to fuck with it. Think about how bad you would feel if you burned your house down? or someone died in the fire? I dont think insurance would cover it.

Thats what scares me, i hope no one thinks im an arrogant prick, its just after so many years ive seen so many things, ive probably seen more potential fires than a fireman, melted wire nuts, loose connections, improperly sized wires, voltage drops, wasted money really, buy it ONE time, after that its the electricians problem.
Like i said , my buddy is looking for a nitch with growers, so theres no doubt he will keep everything to himself and do an awesome job.

this whole thread scares me , when i look at 80% of the nutcases and imature teens that post on here , i can only imagine what shit some people will be trying to do after skimming through a book on basic electricity.

One day shortly after I started doing commercial electric work I realized how fucking awesome it's going to be to be able to do all this shit myself, I am just beginning my apprenticeship but I could do something simple like run a breaker to a room. I wonder how an electrician gets in the business of being grow-friendly, because I would certainly be weary of someone that claimed to be in an ad or something similar. I guess waiting for legalization in my state or moving to a more green friendly state would help though.
My advice would be to do a job or two free for a couple of growers and then use them as references to show your trustworthiness...But the main point is to prove that you have done this for other people and haven't ratted them out. Good luck

It is frustrating! Trying to upgrade my room with a dedicated amount of power, because as of now, I've reached my max at around 1400w total, and one watt over that trips the main breaker in the house which is obviously no good...I've got a friend who thinks he can help but he's no electrician per se...He thinks he can cut main power line in the attic, and then run line and drop it down to the room which I guess would give me a dedicated 240 outlet and I could then use a centralized light controller, and use up to 4000w in theory..I would feel more comfortable having it professionally done by an electrician that asks no questions and likes to get paid in cash lol..Any help or advice would be appreciated.
Unless your friend REALLY knows what he is doing, don't take a chance. There is nothing more dangerous in your house than electricity. It will kill you.

If your not sure on your advice then don't fucking dole it out.
40 amps on 12/2 wire?

8/2 for a 40 amp circuit. Code says up to 100'. You could get away with up to 200 feet easily.
I don't know where you come from but 10/2 is code here and yes I'm sure, I appreciate you spell checking for me though. Its always good to double check. Honest mistake. JAS

I would google the national electric code and double check because i know for a fact number 10 two conductor is right around 30 amps max.

But wait, the guy said "it's code" where he lives. Maybe he lives in Asia. You ever seen the street poles in Asia? Holly shit they all have like 500 illegal feeder wires on them.
