I have bought some face wash that has neem oil in it, will post pics so you can see if that was a stupid idea or not. The wetness seems to dissappear quick, should I be giving several sprays a day? And should I use this as a preventative measure as well or will I have to use something else? Been spraying it by the windows and walls but i don't know if this will discourage pests. Hopefully this is enough.

I currently have thrips and have dealt with them many times in the past and I see no evidence of thrip damage so I'd be finding actual thrips before spraying odd stuff on your plants. Thrips do not chew holes in leaves but leave shiny little patches that look wet when fresh and can look like little windows in the leaves when feeding is intensive. If you had enough feeding going on to actually affect your plants overall health they would be crawling with them. The adults are easily visible without magnification if you have decent vision. Generally white when young turning darker as they mature.

Good old insecticidal soap with a bit of canola or neem oil added, (10ml/L) will get rid of thrips, mites and aphids just fine. Spray at lights out with circulation fan off so it dries slower and make sure to get every bit of the plant and do the undersides of the leaves really well. Spray every 4 days for 4 or 5 treatments to get any new hatchlings before they mature enough to mate and lay eggs. They may fall into the soil but living in soil is not part of their usual life cycle.

I use a magnifying glass to hunt them down and just give them a rub to kill them. Don't have to squish the hell out of them either. Very soft bodies so it doesn't take much. Some fly so don't try to sneak up on them just just grab the leaf where they are and rub gently. With a couple of small plants it takes 5 min twice a day to be rid of them in a couple of weeks.

I use that red handled glass for bug hunting. It's about 3X and the tiny lens at the bottom is maybe 6X. The others are for checking trichomes of getting a closer look at suspected bugs like spider mites.



Good luck but find and identify bugs before spraying strange stuff willy-nilly and doing unneeded damage to your plants.

There are definitely signs of thrips.

I think its actually leaf septoria. Been spraying like crazy and it's gotten worse. Looks like polka dots, yellow and white in colour. Kinda glad its not thrips but is this worse?
