Dispensary reviews OMMP

With the upcoming law change it might be a good time to start a review thread. If you've been to any of them let's hear about it! I have nothing to add but am planning on a Portland area tour as soon as possible.

Guess I'll get the thread started..

I checked out Sky High first since they are right down the street from me. Will most likely be my regular spot. Friendly family, nice variety, usual prices. Free J and discounts on first visit. The store is going through a little remodel I think. Probably something to do with no smoking inside anymore?

You have three grades of flowers, all the usual Portland strains with a few newer crosses. They also had concentrates but I didn't check them out. TGA seeds... Candy, cookies, soda, all that good stuff. Some clones as well, mostly White Widow and Blue Dream.

I had to grab some GSCookies, they had forum cut, thin mint, and koma cookies. Forum smelled the best so that's what I went with. Thin mint had a similar look but not as pungent, koma didn't look or smell like cookies. Extremely dense nuggets, musky lingering stank, numbing buzz. I have had cookies a few times in the past and always really enjoy it due to not building up a tolerance and the unique terpene profile.




For the daytime I picked up some Jillybean. Was priced right, nice mellow upbeat high, candy skunk floral aroma.





Holistic Remedies is next on my list, followed by Rose City Oreganics..

I've been to 4 clubs in the PDX area, so here I go. BTW, I cant seem to figure out how to make the enter key work to give me a new paragraph, so I'll break this up into four posts. The first club is Cannabliss. The reimbursement rates are in line with what other clubs are charging--it went from 220/oz and down. The top-shelf buds are on par with any other club I've been to, however there were many strains that to me seemed pretty low grade.

The next is Portland Patient Resource Center. The buds here are on a price tier system. The last time I was in here, the top shelf was 250 per oz., which is insane! There were three tiers-- every time I went and looked, the tier 3 flowers (150/oz) , well, you can imagine... pretty shitty... As in, some of the old school mex brown was quite a bit better. BE VERY careful about clones from this place. I have been gifted Powdery Mildew, fungus gnats, root aphids, AND thrips from this facility.... To be fair, their top tier flowers were pretty nice, but for 250/oz., they had better damn be.

The Portland Canna Connection is another club that I have visited, however only twice. They had the highest reimbursement rate (260/oz.) and to be quite honest, the top tier flowers were not quite as good as the other Portland area clubs I have been to. The flowers are also on a price tier system. It has been over a year since I have been to this place, so who knows if they have reduced their rates....They also had quite a few flowers that, in my opinion, were pretty low quality.

I've saved the best for last. Of the measly four Portland area clubs I have visited (there are many, I'd say over 40), the best of these has been Treehouse Collective. These guys are down to earth, and made me feel welcome. There is a tier system as well, HOWEVER, the top tier flowers are 200/oz, which is not bad at all, considering the quality of the flowers. I was amazed at the quality available, all for the same reimbursement rate. They also had some 175/oz. and some 150/oz. flowers, but it was an almost staggering difference in quality in the 175 to 200 tier flowers. For the extra 25, you are getting quite a bit better quality. They also have concentrates, edibles, etc., like all the other clubs I have been to.......To be fair, each of these clubs had its own vibe and niche they seem to cater to, which one person may like but another will be put off by, but to me, its all about the reimbursement rates and quality of medicine. In these four cases, Treehouse Collective wins hands down.

I wen't to a good bit of clubs when I first got my card and before the novelty wore off. Many, many clubs have opened since then but this is a summary of my experiences.

Best Overall Quality: Pure Oregon

Most Convenient: Portland Compassionate Caregivers for being open 24/7.

Best Edibles: Any club that carries elbe's edible and Beems cookies.

Best Clones: Rosebud Wellness Center with Rip City Remedies in a close second, but you will never find anything truly special that someone is willing to let a lot of clones go of at these places.


I'm not saying any of the above are immune to the widespread problems of being overpriced, the occasional clueless budtender, and shitty parking.

x2 best edibles: BEEMS cookies are the shit. I was talking to a budtender and was telling him about how the medibles that I have tried haven't really done anything for me, and I have tried quite a bit. He goes, "hey I'll give this beems cookie to you for free, but only eat half now then half later." I was like, yeah ok thanks bro. I ate the whole thing and let me tell you, holy cow! Beems cookies are very potent!

Checking out another spot today, looking for clones! I see rose city oreganics has a bunch listed on their menu.. hopefully they are actually in stock.

I got about 10 different strains from Rose City Oreganics and they all turned out to be B- grade, despite some of the fancy names. The best I got was a Blue City Diesel and that I would give a B+ for its strong blueberry smell. YMMV.

Re: reviews Does anyone know if the (far) east of oregon will see any dispensaries under the new law?

Do you mean like the Ontario area, or maybe La Grande? I'd say you may see some at some point, however I have seen more than one that did not re-open the day the new regs took place.

Yup that's the area I'm speaking of. And ugh, that's what I expected, but hell, I'll take being able to garden over no right to the plant at all. (And hey, portland is only a 6 hour drive.... stop by on the way to the coast and all that )

Damn right! Its only another hour once you are in Portland. Hmm, I really want to take a road trip now...

Curious if anyone knows of any NEW dispensary openings anywhere with the new regs? With all the moratoriums going on in counties and towns, Im curious if any new ones opened, and are they doing anything up north to the ones that were open prior to Mar 3? Down south they just keep passing the moratoriums till May of 2015 and just aren't going to let any open, nor let the existing ones stay open?

Fairly new one opened in Springfield recently: Wicket Weedery -- I know nothing about it, except they are crossing their fingers that there's no bans, or more rule changes to contend with. They seem to be optimistic that they'll be able to keep everything open. There's a shop that's trying to open in the Veneta area, they've got their bid in, but are waiting to see if the town bans dispensaries or not.

What's funny is that I watch the news, and read the papers, and while individual towns or counties are attempting to ban dispensaries, the overriding feeling I get from the news is that legalization efforts in November 2014, are a shoe in. It's really weird to hear the legislatures' sound bytes, and have them be so positive.

Maybe I'm just surrounded by my Magic Eugene Bubble, but I'm hearing NO pushback, only happiness/relief or mild resignation at the upcoming legalization. (depends on who I'm talking with).

hate to tell you but you been misinformed, as part of this last legislative session, they waited until the last day, then the Senate upheld the House ban amendment, and they also agreed for legalization not to be on the Nov14 ballot. Be 2016 now. Seems as if many Oregonians are asleep when it comes to what's actually goin on in state gov't and what we wish would happen. With the way it was handled, reminiscent of DC.

Sorry, didn't mean to be confusing, and I don't think I've been misinformed -- I knew that the House Bill sponsored initiative legalizing MJ was already dead. I was referring to the other, voter driven, ballot initiatives (HEMP, OCTA, and New Approach) that are in the signature gathering stage. From the regular folks around here, (and by that, I mean: Small, local politicians who support legalization, or the Comcast Guy, or my 80 year old straight-as-a-ruler neighbor, or my kid's math teacher, or a Springfield cop buddy) they are still VERY pro-legalization, they think that there will be an initiative on this year's ballot, and seem to think legalization is inevitable. These are not cannabis advocates, and I'm willing to bet that most of them do not partake, but they are very much in favor.

I'm not saying it's in the bag for 2014 -- but it's been a very positive response from these random folks around me. It's just really weird to have weed be a good thing in the public's opinion and the media (when for my entire life, weed has been so vilified).

Thanks for the link on the dispensaries -- that's the one to which I was referring. The "community" has until May 1st to enact the "moratorium" on dispensaries. I don't think Eugene or Springfield will ban anything, and I think Veneta will let their shops open as well. In time for Country Faire, of course.

lol I guess we'll see. I seen where they need quite a few signatures they have now by july for those you mention. I think they have 20K sigs, need 125K, don't they? Paul's facebook page shows how few sigs they have. He's an idiot, the reason most won't sign or be part of the thing is due to him. IMHO, or so Im told. We'll see how it turns out. Its not gonna pass and be on this years ballot, rest assured. Just the way it is. Many hope, just like they hoped the bans and moratoriums wouldn't hold up, and the mmj lawyers are getting beat at every turn. Again, hope for the best, expect the worst. Legalization will not be on the ballot in Nov. LMFAO
