Diy bubbleponics

They will work but them are some hot mothers. If you can vent the room really well it will work great. The kind of bulb you can use depends on the ballast included. There is MH (veg), HPS (flower) and dual (flip a switch). Got any more info on what you're buying?

Those are Metal Halide (MH) and are used for growing in a green house. They take up a lot of headroom and would good for veg only. No way to vent it properly in a inside grow.

I got mine here:

There are a lot of growers that buy lights at HTG. I have a 250 with a cheap but effective bat wing reflector and just got a 400 and cool tube as I rearranged my closet. You could go hps only for the flower room or go with this dual mh and hps set up:

How big of a space you planning on building? Have you figured out how you're going to vent it?

My personal feeling is that lights are not something you skimp on if you can afford it. More light = more bud so the payback is good but you have to be able to vent it if you use any HID lights.

I already have a 400w dual ballast. Right now I have the MH in a cool tube, with reflectors. the tent I've got now is only 3x3x6 so it's fine for clones, mommas' and for vegetative growth. What I wanted to do was create an additional room for flowering. Much larger (hopefully 3 times the size at least.) I was going to transplant the plants at like 27 days or whenever into that additional tent, so I can keep the light on in my grow tent going 24/0 for the mommas and the clones.

I was hoping to keep the 400w MH in that tent, and set up 2 1000w HPS in the flowering tent. I've heard of guys running 6 1000w in a room 9x15 with ventilation, so I think 2 x1000w for a 6x6 tent could be doable. My concern is that with that much light, I'd need to start some sort of CO2 program with the plants, and I really don't want to get into that if avoidable.
Do you think the 1000w ones I showed you can be configured to work horizontally, and through a cooltube? I'm thinking that I can use the ballast and instead of using the socket pictured, I can run a cord and socket the way ours are configured.
Is 2000w in a 36sf tent too much?

To those lights as just not all that adaptable. Are you saying you have 2 extra 1000 watt ballast. The one's adverised are MH only.

1000 watters cover about x 8x8' area each so by the book one 100owatt should be plenty for a 6x6" (36 sf) enough. With proper ventilation and a cool tube CO2 enrichment is not needed.

I agree with MC. the BTU's alone even with proper venting will heat your 8X8 tent way too high. if you are growing in an 8x8 tent I would invest in 2 600's save yourself some money and use your lumens and light footprint more efficiently. I have found good 600's that are anywhere from $75-150 cheaper then a 1000 watter. If you go with the 600 watt HPS bulb with the extra Blue Spectrum you will be looking at 95,000 lumens. You will easily be able to vent these and you will have almost 190,000 lumens in your grow area if you use two!!! Just my opinion.

Desel,

Before worrying about getting another tent set up, and a larger grow going, worry about getting this small grow right. Don't buy those lights and worry about getting a bunch of stuff that you may or may not need right now until you get a good steady grow under your belt. Once your grow starts going right then I would jump on some new products. Of course, I am only recommending this. I just speak from experience. I can't even begin to tell you how much money I spent on stuff I didn't need. A 1000w MH is not going to help you out. You think you have heat issues now...wait till you fire one of those up in an 8x8 tent. What is the ambient temperature in the room where you have the tent? Also, instead of buying those lights, use that money to buy a portable a/c unit and run that in to the tent. I paid $150 for a brand new 12,000 btu portable unit that handles evaporation on its own and I don't have to do anything but let it run, my tent NEVER gets over 78 degrees...hope this helps

I cracked open all my rock wool cubes and they all looked the same as from when i put them in? The california hash is the only one that came through heres a pic unfortunatly i already burnt the first leaves on accident but it will pull through.I was also wondering how long i should veg to make my plants about the height of this pic because space issues.

Jojo,

That's perfectly normal for 3 days after planting. Patience is what is needed here. LOL! Do you have the feeder tubes half way up and butted against the cube? What strain is that budded picture. If looks like some kind of dwarf or possibly a seedling that was sent to 12/12 at birth.

i know i just need to chill but i stuck two more seeds in rockwool cubes today just to make sure i get all 4 plants goin...and i have no idea what kind of strain it is i just found it but do u have any suggestions how i could keep my plants really short cause i only have 2.5-3ft of height in my 5 ft tall grow tent?

Flower them when they get to 12 inches. Not many plants stretch more than double it's veg growth and you should be fine. Lots of techiniques to keep a plant short like topping, supercropping, fimming, scrogging, etc. Lots of us to help on that subject. Don't worry about it now.

Now let's concentrate on getting these seeds started right. Are your feeder tubes butted against the middle of the rock wool cube. How deep did you place the cracked seed in the rock wool cube?

Well the rockwool cubes that i use come with premade holes they go about half way down so i just stuck them in and made sure they were at the bottom. And was wondering if u could tell the gender on these yet?

The premade holes in rockwool are for clones and not seeds. They may still be able to make it to the top but it will take longer. I plant my seed in a hole I make just to the side of the premade hole and just barely cover the seeds. I make the hole deep enough to accomidate the tap root of the cracked seed and the seed itself and that's it.
