DIY build with PC fans?

If you don't need speed control it is pretty easy to power them.

Same to what we do with leds, check operating voltage and current and find a suitable driver. It is common to use parallel wiring. Usually they are 12v as already said
I was asking how HE did it, not how TO do it, that I already know, I thought his answer might be helpful to the OP

I just put them on 12V 1A adapter parallel, one on each side, you can find on aliexpress or ebay the ones with speed control for around 5$ but no need since you want them on max power...2x 2 inch M4 screws up and down on each vent to give them room to breathe...those on the pics are 120mm, i also used 3x 140mm vents on each side for my 2.75x2.75 which are a bit better in my opinion
4x 140mm on each side would be perfect for 3x3 but not sure it would work in a 4x4 unless it's a really powerfull pc fan, that seems like just a bit too much space from one side to the other

Whoa, jesus you can buy 120mm fans for $0.95 on aliespress, seriously $30! for 230mm? What RPM/CFM do they run?
My god man, thats $180 bucks worth a fans in your grow there, eff me.
230mm
Dimensions (mm) 230x200x30mm
Current (A) 0.41A ±10%
Speed (RPM) 900 RPM ±10%
Air Flow (CFM) 156.27 CFM ±10%
Air Pressure (mmH2O) 1.81 mmH2O
Noise (dB-A) 25.6 dB(A)

I installed a pc fan over an intake vent in my box. Has usb plug and a speed controller. Cost like $12. Very quiet. I have 2 4" desk fans at floor level blowing up slightly. Creates a nice breeze.

PC fans as someone said are rubbish for blowing air, they are designed to suck air out of a box at slow RPM, Just a small normal fan in the corner would blow more air than 50 PC fan's and cost a fraction of the price.

100% Bullshit. PC Fans are brushless motors and normal/cheap ventilators are shaded-pole motors aka. one of the most unefficient electrical motors currently available.
Just compare the specs yourself and you will see how efficient PC fans are.

You can quote stats till you are blue in the face champ, it's how the blades on the fans are designed. You put your hand in front of the most expensive PC fan you can find brushless or whatever and you can barely feel the air. That's because its designed to suck hot air out, not blow it around. Why do you think planes have 2 large blades on their propellers and not 40 little ones. it's just simple physics

This would blow more air than 50 of your PC fans

I just picked up these the other day for propagation box, not cheap at $36 each but they are exactly what they say they are pretty much silent.

If you want to use a PC fan for air flow, put it halfway inside a PVC tube so you can at least direct the airflow. Otherwise its just going to be like taking a piss at the urinal while doing a helicopter.

Yeah the specs are impressive, they are comparable in dB to a 120mm PC fan (it would take 4-5 120mm PC fans to push the same amount of air), just was a little sticker shocked. I have in 5 square feet, one 120mm exhaust and one 6" monkey/clip fan, total price $20. Im just cheap. lol

I mean, pc fans aren't designed for significant loads, obviously. In my application, it stimulates a little airflow which is all I needed. For what I'm using it for, they work great but I wouldn't count on them for much.
