DIY Chromogaphy?

been looking at these paper chromatography kits that are going around, and what really goes into them.

is it possible to make an accurate DIY test kit for THC, cbd, thcv?

from what i understand the paper has a dye that reacts with the various compounds in your solvent from the extraction of a test sample.

then using the capillary action the paper draw the compounds up through the dyes and through the paper, the various density's of he compound determine where the dye will appear and the the amount of that compound present would affect the size of coloration.

okay haha good job for reminding me billy, but actually i did have a new revelation, you could extract the resins from a plant and use various methods to separate the compounds as best a possible. i was watching weed country and guy was making a CBD concentrate, where he separated the THC from CBD by bonding the THC to something and allowing the CBD o rise where he gathered the top layer.

i could repeat this and other methods gather the various compounds and test different inks and dies determine which work best to make my test papers.

I think using the term DIY here is stretching a bit. In order to accomplish this, you would need a fair amount of lab equipment, chemicals, and some organic chemistry knowledge. Otherwise your margin of error or even your success ratio would be horrid. Not to mention how would you calibrate this test? You still need a bona fida test result to know how to graduate your testing paper.

i agree. there really is no DIY to this.

It would be great if you could pull it off, but there are too many factors to address.. Cool DIY topic tho~

i think it would be a significant test if you where only really able to know that specific cannbinoids where present. and i think that could be done DIY i think, a more accurate test involving numbers and percents, would require more testing in order to create.
