No laziness... this thread is fricking LONG. We all understand.
Vegged under 400w MH in home-made reflector (that sucked).
Flowered under 400w HPS for about 3 weeks.
Added 250w MH for rest of flower.
The 400w HPS and 250 MH were in a home-made cool tube contraption.

so for flower 650 watts. Very nice yield with that amount of light and buds came out looking proper. I will not rep you as this is how a new grower does it right. research,planning, follow through and a nice documentary of how it went. excellently done.

What you shooting for with the vertical setup? I'm curious to see myself, I have lots of vertical space but not much of a footprint (2.5'x4'x7') growing in a sliding door closet. Vertical scrogging might be the way to go for us closet dwellers
You should probably run a sativa dominant to get alot of stretching methinks.
Either way I'm always along for the ride! Keep up the green thumb

1 g/w would be a little over 23 oz. So I guess I'll shoot for 22 oz. I mean I got 11 off around 7 sq. ft of screen.... This time I have 36 sq. ft. Plus every bit of the screen will be about 12" from the light. The small screen only had the middile close to the light, the walls were at least 16" away, with the corners evern farther.
I think this is totally the way to go with a tall space. We'll see how easily it works out.

Just 2.... they will be monsters. I guess almost 3/4 lb per plant if I get what I want. That would be crazy.

Yeah man... crazy you can use all the parts of the plant. Native American style.
Anything will make hash, but the stuff with all the crystals on it make the best/ most.
Same with butter, the frostier the stuff you put in the stronger the butter. I only used the fan leaves and stems for the butter and it still turned out good.
For my butter I just put Margarine in a crock pot with my stems/leaves and put on high for 8 hours. Not the best method, but it worked. Here is a better one:

Hey Jig man im still lovin this grow of yours...i am finally going to be doing a hydro setup like yours, i think we talked about it before....i just had a few questions for ya on the res....how do you drain and change your water? Do you have a valve on the bottom of the rubbermaid at all to make things easier? or do you just go dump the whole rubbermaid out? Im starting to put my setup together.....cant wait

Hey fishndog.... I hope you've been seeing my other grows too... check the links in my signature. I finished the Purple Kush and we are just starting on the vertical grow. Now about your question.
I did one thing on the first set up and something different on the second setup (the vert in the pics above).
First set up (like is in the subject of this journal) is with one rez. I kept usually about 24 gallon in the tank as an average, so there was no way I was moving it anywhere. I got a really lame water pump thing (i totally bought the wrong thing but it worked well enough). So what you would do is buy a submersable water pump (i got a power head, totally not the same). Drop the pump in the tank with a hose leaving it and connecting to the wall of the rez. So that you can hook a longer hose to that fitting on the rez, and turn on the pump, spitting all the water though the new long hose into a drain of some sort.
My new system has multiple rez' that are not connected. SO to do the same plan I would need a pump per rez... not the best for me. This time I only keep about 4 gal per rez, and now the pressure wasn't so much, so I made a hose that exited the rez near the bottom of the tank. That hose sticks out and has a shut off valve. When I want to drain I hook another hose (that has pump on it) to the shut off valve, turn the valve and pump.
I don't like moving my rez. It just stays put.
I tried to draw pictures... hope they don't confuse you more:

hey jig, been reading up to page 16 so far HAHAHA pretty cool stuff man, you got me all pummped and i like your set up, so I think ill copy it . Anyway, you guys prolly already know that tempeture changes ppm/ec readings heres a link http://blea.ch/wiki/index.php/PPM_Meter so i thin when you see a drastic change in your daily readings and you up and down the ph level it could just be your temp is changing let me know if im right or just talking out of my a$$. Ill keep reading hahaha, i got a ways to go.

Hey matsuwa... you have a while to go... I hope I don't bore you. And not to worry... there are more pics of me to come, haha.
Now, I am no scientist (even though I pretend sometimes), so I don't really understand all thw workings of ec and ph.... but from looking at that article you linked to it seems like the temp affects the ec/ppm reading... not so much the ph. It is worth noting however, so thanks for pointing it out.
I think my tip for not 'riding the ph rollercoaster' is to simply NOT do it. I mean if you ph your nutrient solution before going in, it shouldn't change too much over the next day or so... if it get's a little tiny bit high... it's ok... if it get's too high adjust a very small amound down... don't swing it way low or something. Just keep it nice and even and it will stay nice and even. A range of like 5.7-5.9 is good. You can't keep it right at 5.8 all the time.

But I found a hydroponics store were I live, I was so freaking excited it was hard to control myself . Anyway, my question is, have you used other nutrients yet, is there a better product line? (i.e. general hydroponics, dutchmaster, advanced nutrients) Its been hard to gather information about nutes for some reason, i guess there isnt really any good or superior product, but i would value your opinion as to your experience with dutmaster as it seems that would be the rout I too would like to take (mostly so i can mist the shit out of my plants hahahaha, seems like you had fun doing that.) but yea, im also not familiar what the other stuff was used for like potash+, max, zone and silica., and are they needed to grow a good crop, or just fun to use lol.
Anyway thanks for you thread it was fun to read and long as fuk!

I'm excited for you.
I've never used any other nutrient line, so I can't compare. I think AN is just out to make a ton of products and a ton of money. General hydro seems to make many people happy and it is pretty simple. I would recommend GH stuff. I really like my DM stuff. They have a nice calculator on thier website that really helps. They have a new line out.... so no need for potash anymore... and they replaced max with something called 'Add 2.7'.... So after my stuff runs out I will have DM Gold nutes, Add 2.7, Silica, and Zone. Plus I'll always keep my Liquid light and penetrator gold spray... love it.
So... you don't need the Add 2.7, but it's cheap and goes a long way... so I say why not. Also you don't need the silica, but I recommend it. It supposedly strenthens the cell walls allowing them to be more resiliant in trying conditions and helping them fight mold. I don't want mold.
You don't need to use them for a good crop. If you are on a budget, just get the main nutes and zone.
Zone is a must... unless you run H202... you need something to keep the tank clean. So for sure Zone, or H2o2, or some other companies product.
Other than Dutch Mater I run Botanicare : Cal- Mag plus.... and Humboldt County's Own : Gravity, and Bushmaster.
