i used two different type of yeast cuz i didnt know what one would work.
IMG_20111118_112928.jpg

so i put one in each i tried twice

1tsp yeast
3/4cup sugar
6cups water

first time i used scolding hot water and shook em up let em sit for about 3 hours...nothing

i thought maybe the water was too hot nd it messed up the yeast so i tried again

mixed luke warm water shook em up excessively waited over night..nothing

what am i doing wrong?

Remember that yeast is a living organism and you can kill it with scalding hot water. :) If you used lukewarm water I have to wonder if the yeast was dead. Check the "sell by" date on the package; it may be out of date. Make sure to get the freshest stuff you can find. I wouldn't put a lot of effort into shaking it; it will take care of itself. Just make sure to shake up the sugar to get it in suspension then add the yeast. Hope that helps.

Sorry for the off topic, op. I came to learn how to make one of those things and got distracted....

What are you expecting to get from 3/4 of sugar? thats nothing. You need one of those packets and about five pounds of sugar in about a 2 gallons of watter and you'll get a noticable amount of gas...

I do 2 packets five pounds of sugarin two gallons in a 7 gallon carboy to start I then add water and sugar periodically until the alcohol level get high enough to kill the yeast. when the yeast dies its obvious that biological activity has stopped and you start over works great.
