Hi,
My friend and I built a 'poor mans ebb and gro' bucket system. The controller works just like a flood table, except we use a bucket instead of a table, the other buckets fill to the same level as the controller/flood bucket. The overflow for the controller bucket controls the level in the buckets without using float switches.
Very very cheap and effective system. We uploaded a video of it to youtube.

Will update this if folks are interested in seeing more of it.
