i honestly dont know. im just asking. id like to know if there is any reason to go bigger?
Hi,
I wanted to answer the questions about the heat sink size and why we selected the ones we did for our kits.
The kits that are 50 Watts per COB use the Cooliance CPL10070 model heat sink which is 100 mm in diameter and 70 mm tall. The kits which are 75 watts per COB use the CPL14070 model heat sink which is 140 mm in diameter and 70 mm tall.
Here is the datasheet for the Cooliance pin cushion heat sinks:
http://www.cooliance.com/NA/Products/LED-Coolers/Generic/LED-Coolers-For-Other-Arrays.php
As you can see the heat sinks we selected fall well within the operating specifications. We worked extensively with the Cooliance engineering staff to select and custom machine the appropriate heat sinks for each kit.
These heat sinks will be warm to the touch - surface temps can hit 120°F and the pins register around 90°F at 50 Watts with a basic temperature gun.
If there are any additional questions about the components we use I would be happy to answer them.
Regards,
Dan
