Actually I'm thinking of setting the cpu coolers within the rail. Each 4 foot rail weighs 4 lbs. I don't believe that would be too heavy. I also like how the rail is hollow, hopefully it will be a great place to hide all the wires.
Good point! I'm definitely going to consider that once all the items arrive. Just ordered it all last night, guessing the drivers from fasttech will take the longest. Scheduled to the 25th with up to 2 weeks delivery.
That is true....but there is something magical that happens when you create your own LED array.....sort of like when you finish having sex and use Hyrootz quilt to clean up...satisfaction right there...
DNA has an electrical 120v combo for 380$...without hood, but with socket. Advanced tech is coming out (next week) with 120v kits that are very affordable. Blue + Red + UV + greens = bigger yields than any LED...with no sanding, calculating, and soldering. Just a wash up quilt.
HeatsinkUSA charges a flat $5 cutting fee for as many horizontal cuts as you need and they do a beautiful job of course. In the case of my vegging heatsinks that need to be cut, I am using a heavy duty jigsaw with metal blades. Of course it is not the ideal way to make a cut but since it is only 2 cuts I don't want to invest in any new tools and I will file it down smooth afterward.
What's dimming for? If that's what you want the philips ballast kit from advancedtech dims. DNA electric ballast is 120v.
Very cool setup! I like the idea of running the wires inside the tubes. I used 2X3's which are very heavy but very strong. I have to support 60 pounds of aluminum so I needed the strength and the wiring in the rigging is very prominent lol.
Luckily my next 2 fasttech orders got here quicker, about 2 weeks like yours.
A very nice 3100K spectrum with lots of deep red but I suspect its efficiency is not on par with the CXA3070. It claims 105lm/W and that is just the initial lumens, it suffers from 5% lumen depreciation/year ($100 bulb not too bad to replace). So if you average it to 100lm/W, even though it has lots of deep red in the spectrum, its efficiency is probably in the low 30s. And finally the biggest problem, it shines in all directions so it suffers very significant reflector losses (25%?) before reaching the canopy.
Dimmng is to control my electric costs mostly. Some months I don't mind a bigger bill and some months I need to watch every penny. 360w is a lot for me, I've usually provided for myself with 250w or less. It's nice having the high power option and not always having to use it.
To be fair to the CMH lamp, it's doing 1.9 umol/J which is a tiny little better than the COBs we're using, and the electronic balasts for it can have an efficiency of 95%.
