Well let's face it, it's just Samsung LEDs. Doesn't matter all that much how they're mounted. Samsung made some nice LEDs. Stick em on a rectangular board, a long thin board, a round board, whatever. You guys are quibbling over the mounting system basically. Apparently a few people thought the QB mounting system was somehow magical and went to the trouble of duplicating it. Could have just bought a bunch of pre-made strips from Samsung and saved themselves a lot of effort and expense. Stuck 3 of em together side by side so it's a rectangle shape if they thought that shape was special. Doubt if buyers would care if the board is metal or phenolic or whatever that stuff is. Even the phenolic need little in the way of heat sinks, if any at all. Just that it might extend the life some.
You guys are quibbling over very little of any real substance when you think about it. Quantum Board is just a brand name, not a new wonder product. Samsung LEDs on a board, common as hell. In fact, the joke's on the copycats. Because nobody gives a shit what shape board the LEDs are on, just who has the lowest price per watt. My guess is Samsung, followed by a few different retailers. Pretty sure getting a small quantity of boards custom made would be the most expensive route of all.
