DIY with Quantum Boards

I tested the vertical orientation. Did not see any significant temperature differences. Will repeat test again soon.
In vertical orientation the bottom of the heatsink is cooler than the top of the heatsink. Hot air rises up so top is more hot.
How much temp difference was it? I have a commercial LED strip and running vertically causes a massive temp spike

I am thinking of trying quantum boards over 2'x4' for greens like kale in a vertical stack system. do I need four panels? Three? My current mounting height is 12-18"

Is there any coverage maps for 2x4 at different mounting heights ?

Currently the current 2x 4' 54w LED strips deliver 200umol with pretty even coverage almost to the edges

8" fan duct
If so, airflow should move parallel to the fins. Don't get me wrong. The craftsmanship is impressive. But building the device with the sinks perpendicular to air flow is something that should be addressed in version 2.0.

Upto 10 C difference between top and bottom of heatsink in vertical orientation if no airflow.

No coverage map. Will make one soon. 2x4 should be good with 3 boards
Looks like u already have a good 100w setup there. What spectrum? Do you need more light ?
For low inteensity I recommend lumiled and Samsung strips.

For low intensity the boards may not be best economical choice. If you are growing kale and greens then with strips you have choice of spectrum too.
You can choose a lumiled strip that you can paste. They have a 300mm long strip that can do 10 watts.
Samsung and bridgelux have strips too. These can work on the slate heastink of QB

Sure; Google 'PAR' chart. They're based on McCree.

By the way, @CobKits was making a joke about the toddler in the pic I posted, which was itself in jest.
yes i was kidding about the baby playing with green lightbrights

green is the least efficient of the colors that fall in the par spectrum and is usually used in reduced amounts (and typically supplied by full-spectrum white sources not green monos)

Green monos=why??
Unless for lights out work around 12/12 plants.

Let the games begin. In between the panels are filled in with .063 aluminum to seal so we have our coolhood design. Not shown in picture. This allows my smell and heat to be removed. The tomatoes smell indoors.

Thank you - I crunched the LED Strip products table on Digikey and I think I narrowed down the best ones - Does it sound right that Bridgelux came out as the best performing and highest output per $?

I'm exploring the idea of using these for my greens over here:
