DIY with Quantum Boards

Apart from the faint screaming (growing pains?) shrubbery seems to be doing OK.
2x QB288V2 & ChilLED G2 100w added a week ago. Approx 300w total in 2x4.
Heaps better than that steaming pile of pooh light I used last year.
Potting mix with generous worm castings added. Water & Budzilla
nice rig. Are those rubber feet for you luminaire? What sized thread?

damn, was hoping they were aftermarket, 1/4-20 thread. Thanks. My search will continue.
I'm sure HLG would be willing to sell you some.

Or just do what I did and drill a hole, use an eye bolt or if it makes more sense to use a regular bolt that's cool too, and cap it. They have rubber caps you can hot/super glue on to the threads end.

You can see them on this pic. I mentioned eye bolts because that's where I hung my ratchets to the fixture also.

I have a similar setup with eye bolts, but with 1/4-20 threaded standoff nuts. eventually I want to thread in some small rubber feet into the bottoms.

I'll be tearing my lights apart and doing a more elegant rebuild with aluminum sheets with water-jet cutouts for the QB288s and more room for additional diodes soon after my Elite QB96s get in. Every detail that I can get perfect in the next couple weeks I want to do before these lights need to be used.

This reminds me of the time I built one of my first COB lights. I sure wish I had installed eye bolts like you did, cuz when i fired it up to test max output I scorched the hell out of a foam mattress topper...through the cotton sheet!

How’s everyone’s micro grow going?
:bigjoint:
I just pulled down my phantom foton board 4K.
( which gave supurb results but they seem to be outta biz ness??) and replaced it with a QB 100. 3k.
My farm area is 2.5 square feet so it comes out to approx 40 watts per square foot.
Run a 15 gallon no till scrog with4-6 plants
My last harvest I got 148.5 grams dried sour diesel.
About 1.4 grams per watt
I’m hopeing to get just a touch better with the qbs
Time will tell
And yes.
The ONLY reason I pulled out the phantom photon board is because they seemed to have closed doors and disappeared.
When Life gives me the opturtunity to get a larger grow area the photon fantom board and Cree 3590s that are also in storage will come out of storage .
Peace

Bud Blooming time with 630-660 nm ....

RED ALERT !

Quantums power down then RED powers thru ( rest of cycle for 30 minutes ).
Red actually goes full cycle but finishes at end of cycle.

Just wanted show the intensity and coverage of the led used .... G8.

It covers the plants very well even hung from the front.

Do you really think that g8 helps? I had one thought it wasn't worth more than a paper weight I didn't even use it with my cxb3070 builds I know you have used it for years just just curious why you still use it do you need the extra heat?

Set up:
4x4 tent with a 4x4 soma sip bed.
Light: 6x 288 quantum boards (running at 500w total).

Should I do 4 or 9 plants in the bed to fill a full 4x4 canopy? My main concern is 4 autos wont grow big enough to fill a full canopy. Has anyone done this yet?

You'll most likely get a full canopy even with 4 autos in a 4X4. Imo.

I added a 4000k overhead to 3000k duals and have this 4000 for supplemental use .
The white blue color is evident when compared to the 3000.

I typically use this tripod mount for seedling starts but can be used as a supplemental.

Did you have to solder the 100watt? I ordered the 135!and don’t know how to solder wondering if I could just use wagos

Soldering is very easy to do. Especially if it's just connecting two wires together. Soldering on a PCB is a bit more delicate, but even then, it's pretty straight forward. You can watch some BigCliveDotCom videos on YouTube and learn really quickly just how simple it really is.
