DIY with Quantum Boards

Thanks. I've 4 drivers over 14 months old and all are still going strong. I've only run them on full for one run though, the rest of the time they're on 75 - 80%.

Be interesting to hear whats causing it, hope you get it sorted.
I’d be interested to know what’s causing it too lol. I’m sure hlg will take care of me like they always do.

When the driver is labeled: Input 100 - 240 volts it means you can run it on 120-240, it works with both, not just 220-240V. You can use this driver

Hi
Allite then
I have a quantum board 288 (54v)
I want to run this at aleast 150 watts - 240volts
This is a single board fixture so efficiency is not a issue.
Per suggestion from another forum I purchased this driver

So it seems it won’t drive the board @ 150 watts UNLESS I apply 200 volts ac input...
I run 120v ac so this is not gonna work.
( I’ll just add it to the pile of wrong drivers...)
I was thinking maybe a 200watt dimmable??
Any suggestions for a dimmable driver for this 288 board???
Thanks!!!

It will still be 150 watts it will draw the amperage necessary.
Thanks for filling my void of knowledge.
I’m trying to do a grow Chamber up grade and trying to get in done in limited time.
But a question....
The QB is at a static 21 inches above soil
This Chamber is 2.5 sf
I started with a qb132 run at 60 watts. ( recommended)
That’s abouts about 25 watt sf.
That’s the low end.
I bumped it up to 100 watts that about 40 watts sf
I am now going to put a qb288 running at 150 watts
So my thinking is
If one is useing more than one board you can turn teach boards wattage down, for max effiecency
But when useing a single board it may be best to push the uppercwattages???
I think I’ve been sucked into the deep hole of led numbers and tried to be too efficient, while it may be that useing a single board effency in not as critical as wattage??
Just early morning mind rumbleing.....

hmmm sorry, I didn't ;look that far down, and I've only used the HLG XXX H series drivers drivers which are a higher end driver than the ELG, my HLG80H-54 has the same output regardless of input voltage.

Break the wattage habit and look to the PPF of each of these boards. The QB 288 will put out considerably
I'm not sure why you think that when the label clearly says it will only draw 105W using his 120VAC supply.

more PPF than the 132 at the same 100 watts. I'd think the 288 @ 100 watts would be about perfect in that size space. I have one in a cab with about that area and it works great.

HI POP,
Im not sure if you remember me although thanks to you and Six i am currently killin it with my qb288s which you guys helped me in building and was looking for some advice for my veg room.
going with 4x qb132 or 4 x qb 120s ?
Spectrum 4000k? V1 or V2?
Veg Room 4x5 feet (20sqft)
I tried to read about the differences between the 2 and looks like the 132s can run 5% harder than the 120s so therefore im thinking the 132s but V1 or V2? but thought id ask
And is the 4k spec best for veg
I also bought some cool wireless dimmers so if possible would like to use boards/driver which are compatible with a dimmer switch
Thanks and where is Six?
Thinking of going HLG-240H-C2100 and 4 x 132 v2?

4 QB 120 or 132s are not enough for a room that size, I'd say 8 would be about right, which would require 2 drivers and yes the 240H-C2100 with the 132 would be a good choice.
Personally, I'd go with 4 QB 288. You can run them at 60 watts each with a heatsink if your trying to do this on a budget. That gives you the option of adding heatsinks later on and gain the ability to then run them at higher power if needed. I recentIy grew and flowered a couple plants under 4 QB 304 running on an HLG240H-C2100b becaue my 320H-c2800 died and it worked well enough to get me a decent harvest. I know people have used the smaller QBs in larger spaces but where they really shine
( pun not intended..lol ) is in small spaces, 2x2 tents, cabinets etc. I have a pair of QB 120's in a 20"x32"x28" cabinet that I use for breeding etc and they work well enough for that, could really use at least one more board in there but this has worked for me so far. IMO, the smaller boards are best for smaller space.s

Hey Pops and thanks,
Im a lil confused 47inch x 23inch x 59 inch is my room i currently am running 2 x qb288 at 240w in there but wanted them for my flower tent so i thought 4 x qb132 running at 250 wats would work for veg ? not sure id fit 8 x132s in there ?
And thx again

Ahh I read 20 sq.ft. In the space your speaking of here, yes 4 QB 132 would work well. In 20 sq.ft, no they are not enough.

You did specifically say one or two posts ago that your veg space is 4x5ft, 20sqft. If that is the case, minimum five QB132s would work for veg. But, if it is the 2x4 space you now say in this post, then two QB132s would be enough for veg (four for flower). I would recommend getting a dimmable driver that is capable of running them at their full 75 watts, so you would have that capability, if desired, in the future. So, HLG-150H-36A (or B) for two boards or the HLG-320H-36A for four boards. Personally, I found that I don't ever use dimming. I prefer to raise the lights up if I need to decrease the intensity, so I use the LRS-150-36 for two QB132s and the LRS-350-36 for four. They are significantly cheaper, although the efficiency is at just over 89% as opposed to the HLG's 93%.

Hi again guys and thanks for the input i am terribly confused not sure if i have my room size correct im trying to covert to ft or inches my tent is* Size120X60X150CM is this 20sqft?
I also have one of those cool dimmer switches from pacific light concepts to use on veg light.
I am sorry to be asking the same questions but want to be sure before i order .
What do i need ?looking to do 1 month veg.
Thanks again for your help

I just realised i think i was working out length x height not length x width .......therefore Thinking of going HLG-240H-C2100 and 4 x 132 v2 on 4000k ? Did i get it?
Thanks

Everyone should have this page bookmarked, called Calculate Me. It has many forumlas that all you need to do is plugin the numbers.

For you, the length and width are multiplied and gives you 7200 Sq. cm which equals 7.5 Sq. Ft. 4 QB 132 on that driver will work great.

Here's the link
