DIY with Quantum Boards

I think "Greanleafs" thread is gone. Unless someone started a new one.. I know they plan to have the sales on April 20. There was mentioned that was a good date as the outdoor growers would likely be stocking up at that time. Now to try to find the discount code... I heard that GLN is on the "auto flower network" ( if I remember the name correctly ).

If anyone hears of a discount code please post. I am in store for some V2 Megacrop. Perhaps I will send an email on the subject.

I was using V1 and some "sweet candy". I have never ran Megacrop without sweet candy. Has anyone ran Megacrop with and without Sweet Candy. Any comparison..

Great to hear! I bet the greenleaf megacrop thread would love to hear the same. Post there too please?

Added 2 QB18 to my HLG600. Those red bars are so light I simply zip tied them to the Slate6 corner holes and used heat tape to better secure and align them with the heatsink. I bought the beefier HLG-100H-48A driver so I could fire both QB18 at max. I tried that with the main light off and I was really surprised with the intensity of the red light. I dialed it back closer to 50%. I'm excited to see how the plants react. They are already 6 weeks into flower.

Look's good! It's good to know they are light.

Where did you source the molex connectors for the power input? Mine should be here tomorrow getting excited to see what these will do...

Quick question.. i have a 250W QB from kingbrite.. works great, but the one thing i don't like is that it's quite a bit skinner than my 2x4 tent.. so the far outsides of plants aren't getting near the light the middles are...
Just occurred to me... unmount the panels off the heatsinks.. cut the HS in half then put them back in the tent spread out a little... should solve the outside edge issue.. plus with the overlapping should still be way more than enough coverage in the center... Anyone have any reason to not do this?
Thanks guys

Just posting a pic so you know exactly what it is..
you might have better luck on the chinese knockoff threads, this forum is mostly for QBs..
cutting the heatsink might work for you

That looks nice, keep us posted on notable changes using these reds. I wonder if putting those reds on during veg would help also. I thought I read somewhere that the reds boosted someone's root production. Will you be running them on/off with the hlg600? Or put them on any schedule?

Molex what now? I'm not sure what you mean. These have the same push-in receptacles as other QBs. Just strip wire and insert. The other side of the board had some 9V DC jack looking plug but I didn't bother with that.

I plan to just run them the entire flower cycle with the HLG600. I didn't think of separate timings. For now I'm just interested in making a major change, just to see what happens. Being in the later end of flower right now, I'll probably have to wait another cycle to note changes, but you never know.

It's says molex connector for power input on there web page. Good to know they have to push in connector on those as well.

So this is my first build and I'm pretty sure I'm heading in the right direction but i was hoping someone could confirm for me. I wanna take 2 of the QB288V1 with the slate 2 and run them with a Mean Well LPC-150-2800 for a nice middle of the road wattage/efficiency?

According to HLG website that will be wired in parallel. THeir 260 kit comes with a HLG 240H C2100a ( a = built in pot/dimmer ). There are a number of drivers available for use. One that dims is very useful. If you are going to purchase a driver the Meanwell HLG version would be a better fit as your light will run 18hr cycles and is designed for this application. Use solid copper wire into the boards. I had connected a driver with "factory tinned" stranded wire to a board and had a hell of a time getting the wire back out of the connector on the board.

Your lowest cost solution will probably be the 120/132 boards as they do not require a heat sink. Look at the HLG website to find compliant drivers. There are many options at HLG these days depending on your style of grow. $175 is cutting it close. $200+ would be more realistic.

was wondering I have $175us dollars for a quantum board setup for a 2x3 any suggestion how to spend and what on please?
