Well, the Goo is looking fine now, save for the yellow single blades. From what I've come to understand the bottom leaves won't get better, but seeing as it hasn't spread to the rest of the plant I think I can live with that.

I've decided to Goo is going to be fimmed and possibly LST'd while I'm at it. This will all be wasted time if it turns out to b male, but at least I'll have a lot of pollen if it is. I'm thinking about making seeds if any of these plants exhibit traits I'd like to pass on. Plus it would be nice to not pay for seeds in addition to not paying for weed. New pics tonight.

Also would recommend you look into and read this since you use a 400 watt as I do:

The place to buy them ...great prices and the best customer service:

https://www.lightingsupply.com/CDM40...R-4K-ALTO.aspx

you do have a magnetic coil hps ballast as it is required for that bulb ...if it is the heavy old style and not the electronic or digital ballasts then yes...

hope it helps....

If these figures are all true, it looks like I'll definitely have to give CMH a try. It looks kinda low on lumens, though. The bulbs I'm checking are only about 36,000 lumens vs my HPS at 50,000

Mango & Goo - Veg Day 18

I decided to go ahead and give them both a nice snip since topping worked out so well the last time I tried. Still on the fence about LST, but I don't see why not.

Here they are after a quick trim. The cut looks clean enough for the size they are.

The Maroc may get topped, but I might just do one and keep the other a single cola to test how they react. They're starting to move the leaves to the side, so al seems well for now

But 80% of the spectrum of the cmh is utilized by the plant vs. only 22% of the hps spectrum...not too mention less radiant heat allowing closer proximity to vegetation thereby reaping the benefits of the square inverse law pertaining to light levels and distance from the source. Additionally hps has no uv and it is experienced that uv is needed for elite potency and the cmh provides almost the levels of uv at higher elevations again because of the close proximity you may keep the vegetation to the source.

All of this is covered in depth in the icmag and adv tech lighting links I provided

Soooo, as it turns out the reason my PM's leaves were acting so retarded is because I'm retarded and had the light WAY too close. I've moved it up and have come to understand they will correct themselves in about a day or so. Hopefully they don't stay all weird forever, cause if that happened my whole seed order would have been a total bust.

Goo & Mango - Day 21 - Veg

Not much exciting news here. The N deficiency has been resolved and they both seem to be picking the pace up quite nicely.

You can see here that the Mango is already starting some new growth where I topped her. She's got plenty of healthy side growth starting up as well.

20110221125330.jpg20110221125350.jpg20110221125323.jpg

The Goo is looking somewhat different. It seems to be concentrating on making the leaves it has bigger without so much side growth on it. The two biggest leaves it has on he side look kinda retarded if you ask me, but at least the top leaves are already starting to show 9 points.

20110221125445.jpg

They still seem kinda stunted to me, but when I topped my last plant the growth picked up pretty quickly after a few days, so I'm just gonna give them some time.

Anything I'm doing wrong that you can spot?

Not much to report right now. The Mango is starting up it's new tops and it appears there will be 4 of them. It's still exhibiting lots of healthy side growth, while the Goo is taking a little longer.

The Purple Maroc are probably both going to be discarded. After doing a little research it turns out I'm not the only guy having trouble with this strain. The breeder said this strain is unreliable indoors and it looks like they weren't kidding. Once my new seeds get here I'll probably replace them with a Big Widow and Sugar Black Rose instead.

Not sure what breeder this is from. The seed was found in an ounce of Mango from CO that somehow found it's way out here to the midwest. I'm just happy to have it. If one of these plants turns out to be male I'm planning on breeding it and calling the new strain Mangoo. I understand Mangoo could be misconstrued as Man-Goo (gross), but imma do it anyway if I have the chance.

UPDATE/NEW PICS

Day 24 - Veg

First off, the Purple Marocs have worn away the last of my patience and have been taken out of the picture. I hate to do it, but they were tiny as hell and not showing any signs of improvement. As far as I can tell (and other indoor growers are agreeing with me) they're just no good indoors.

I've switched them to an 18/6 light schedule to save power and ease them into flower when the time is right. I'll be getting my Big Widow seeds this week, so I'll end up germing a couple of them along with the Sugar Black Rose for a nice 4-8 plant setup.

The Mango and Goo are both looking excellent these days. The Goo is starting up it's new main colas (finally) and they're looking nice and healthy. I've noticed it has a tendency to droop, but the amount of water in the pot seems to have no effect on the droopiness of the leaves. It's starting up more healthy side growth. I don't know what to make of this brown spot on one leaf, but it isn't spreading to the others, so I'm not too worried.

20110224004617.jpg20110224004657.jpg20110224004608.jpg

The Mango is showing much more healthy side growth, but I think I may have topped it wrong:wall: From what I can see she was FIMed, which isn't necessarily a bad thing, but it looks kind of ugly at this stage. Otherwise, she's nice and bushy for a little thing and both of these could be thrown into flower right now if I wanted a couple stocky, dense plants.

20110224004429.jpg20110224004525.jpg20110224004443.jpg

I can't wait to send them into flower, but I really wanna wait for my new seeds so I can have a nice, BIG harvest. I'm aiming to harvest a QP from this tent, and I'm pretty damn sure it's possible with the amount of plants I'm planning on.

Also, Daria will be monitoring this journal from now on. See to it that you pay homage to her daily.

Somewhat bad news. I lost my job today and as a result I may have to move in the coming months if I don't secure a new one right away. With the situation as it is, I'm going to send the plants into flower tonight and do a 12/12 from sees grow with one of the seeds I get from Attitude tomorrow. If I get a new job right away I'll post a new journal, but it looks like this one is going to be cut tragically short. Oh, well.

New beans come in tomorrow according to tracking, so all's well. Wish me luck in my job hunt.

I got fired because they said I didn't seem to care about the job. They were totally right. I would have fired me months ago. I got a job interview tomorrow, so it's all good.

Meh, my interview ain't for another 12 1/2 hours. I'm already pretty drunk (damn friends wanted to get me fucked up since they heard), so I should be able to wake up fresh as a daisy tomorrow.

I love how even when I'm smashed I still meticulously check my posts for typos. I seriously just checked to make sure I spelled "meticulously" correct.

New beans today! I'll be adding Sugar Black Rose and White Widow x Big Bud to the mix. They'll be going 12/12 from seed, so keep your fingers crossed for some tasty bonsai trees.
