Hi - total newbie here - grew 2 plants that happened to be female from a bag of AK47 - both plants took very well, once they started flowering, i put them on the 12/12 cycle indoors and it worked better than i expected. I was 6 weeks into flowering, both had hairy, sticky, stinky buds :) but one started to get bud rot.

I do not have a veg room, so i'm just growing these out, and chopping them down as a first test.

I had to chop the one with bud rot (there was just a tiny bit) so i cut it all out, and hung the whole plant upside down - the buds started to form but my question is : are you supposed to shape the buds with your hands ? I found that it started to resemble typical buds if I gave it a good squeeze and helped it stick together. If possible i'd love to know what the pros do, because my other one plant will be coming down soon, and it's god big hairy buds on it- i just have no idea what i'm doing! :( any help would be greatly appreciated!!!! bongsmilie

some how you need to drop the rh(relative humidity) levels in the room. Is it a small space? Also trim the leafy part of the buds. You can make hash with them. To dry out my bud I hang them on twine in a cardboard box with two big holes cut into opposite side and put a house fan at one end. leave some of the stem on the buds so you can hang them on the string and to cure them properly.

hehe this was funny to read but i know how it felt to be totally new to growing and no question is really dumb, but after you hang the plant you end up with a stick with a bunch of nugs depending on the size of your fruits you should have your normal buds the hairs arent really big and white after you harvest a dried plant you should end up with your traditional looking buds with red hairs you just need to trim of the excess leaves and put in a jar for stage two of the curing and you should end up with buds without having to form them like some art project lol.. hope this helped a little

the reason why the plant u chopped down dint look like mj is becuz u chopped it early, if u leave it for coupla more weeks itll swell up and look more like the stuff u buy, and to answer ur question no u dont have to shape the buds with ur hand if u let it get ripe itll look like buds by itself
