Do I need an inline fan if I have an AC?

It might be the most stupidest question, but my mind can't grasp on the need of an inline fan in my walk in closet's door. I put in an AC / Humidifier to control the temperature(side question: should I put the AC on a timer?) instead of an inline fan. My question is, how bad would my plants suffer? I'm guessing CO2 will be used up and they might stunt in growth, but is that really possible in my 8 x 5 closet, especially if I'm constantly opening up the door to check on my plants? To me they're getting fresh air when the AC turns on, the exhaust fan is running, and the fan is blowing around... Help!

The inline exhaust fan is more to replace the air inside your closet rather than to cool it. A fresh supply or air is essential for a healthy grow; respiration and transpiration rates affect photosynthesis which in turn dictate how vigorous and fast your plant grows. To me it sounds like it shouldn't be much of an issue in your case but it surely would be best if you did have one....IMO

If the a/c is mounted so it can exchange fresh air from outside the room then its alright. If you have a free standing unit inside the room than its not really doing anything other than cooling stagnant air.

Correction... Inline fan is used to cool your hoods which in turn cools your room. Hot lights = hot room. You should try cooling your lights with air from outside your room thus making your A/C & CO2(if you use either) more efficient. If you pull the air inside your room through your fan and out you're just going to use up all your CO2 in one day and your AC would never shut off = extremely high electric bill.

I think the OP needs to give us more info on his set-up preferably a couple pics. If you have no air movement in your closet right now than at least leave your door open so they can breathe.

And where do you think the air is coming from to cool your lights?? The inline fan is placed to pull air from the outside of your tent/room (or whatever) into the light tube and out the exhaust and out the tent/room, thus replacing your air, if you just use the same air through the light tube it's never going to cool down. You must have a circulation system which using the inline fan pulls in cool air from the outside in to cool your lights and the space and then takes hot air out, preferably to another room or an attic.

This is a portable AC, not a mounted unit.

My setup is:

1000W MH/HPS Digital Ballast
140CFM exhaust fan, with 3" duct
9000BTU Portable AC/Humidifier
Miracle Grow
Holland 3 part nutrients
3 speed fan

i peronally use a window a/c and suck air intomy tent from the room and vent back into the room, it works good a/c 30mins on 30 mins off as i should be venting outside of the room but waiting for new fan. i think a portable ac u could run cold air into ur tent and maybe gear ur exhaust to hit intake on a/c ?

I know this post is old I need help it a shed grow metal shed in florida get hot and humid. I have ac unit vented out window. I also have 8 inch inline fan and carbon filter how often do I run it it's vented threw another window how often to I run ot since ac on wouldn't fan suck all air out even cold ac air. So what to do how often should I run inline fan
