Do plants keep growing when they start to flower?

most of my plants are only about 2-3 feet tall and have just started to get white hairs on them, Im guessing theyre really start to flower in about a week. My question is: Will my plants keep getting taller when they start flowering or does the growing stop all together?

they'll grow a lot once they start flowering to build the flower stalk, some will triple in height (Sativas)

wow, Ive been supercropping some of my babies and i was wondering when i should stop? Ive got a couple short very bushy indicas with about 8 tops and ive been superscropping them too. Does supercropping during flowring increase yeild?

It works great to the end.

Anytime you want to move a top out of the way to expose other areas to light, just pinch and bend

Stop Supercropping when the flowering starts. The Plants energy is now being reverted to the flowering, not all vegging. You don't want to stress the flowering stage. What I have read & seen myself, once the plant starts to flower, it will grow 1/3 as much as what the plant is at the time. Plants will vary, but that's the rule of thumb. 3 times the height? Come on now... Maybe it just looks that way because your so short. Nice threads (clothes) FRM.

Generally, plants will stretch 12" to 24" during flowering, but there are a bunch of variables.

I once had a small Skunk plant that at least tripled in size, reaching a bit over four feet and a QP+.

The same plant revegged and grew very large, stretching two feet(to eight feet tall) and producing over 2 pounds, the second season.

When my Sativa's started flowering, She was 8 1/2 ft. tall, average growth per day, 1 1/2 inch. I got too hot, chopped down 25 Ladies. Maybe in Nov. of 2012, I'll be able to report. Are you sure they tripled AFTER starting the Flowering stage?? That means my Baby would have been 25 Ft. tall. I say that BS. What say You.

I flowered when my indicas were undera foot and the satvia was just over. They are now 2 foot and 3 foot respectively. And it wasn't due to inadequate lighting. My indicas had 1/2" node spacing prior to the switch. That doubled easily.

Size when beginning flowering does matter though. Taller plants clearly won't grow to 20 feet.

In my experience, only very small plants will triple in height. Less than 18".

A big plant will add about two feet after July 15th, assuming everything is going well.

It's all about strain. Sativa dominant might grow alot in flowering. Indica dominant plants seems not to stretch too much.

Yeah, triple, double, you can't say that. I can't imagine 10 feet sativa tripling in height :D. My AK-47s stretched sth like 2.5 time in SOG. I started flowering them when they was 10 inches tall :).

I can see a small Sativa being forced into flowering, causing the plant to grow more than normal during flowering stage. Me personally, I like starting Indoor in Dec., 24/7 , moving indoor/outdoor daily, if possible, then setting out in the "Pea Patch" on the 20TH of May, causing the Veg. time to max out before the natural (Sept) flowering time. But this is under idea situations.

My SoG's used to have a 250hps in an air-cooled hood, with the bulb itself about 30" above the tubs, in a cab. Chamber was configured for 3 stages, so light needed to remain at that height. New stage in the middle, with 2nd stage to the left, and 3rd stage flush to the right side of the chamber. Clones were scheduled to insert in the chamber every 3 weeks, so took them 10 days before. Clones were 3" when inserted in the chamber. Indicas finished off 10" - 14". SweetSkunk (SweetPinkGrapefruit x BigSkunk).. 22" - 24".

2 possibilities though.. 3" clones are stretching up to the light 30" above, or, stretching due to just hps. The SweetSkunk was a monster though.. so may be genetic.. indica/sativa.

My next cab will be a bit different.. going to set up like a stadium (step),, but instead of vertical light, it'll be horizontal (LED panel), and the 1st stage will be at the top edges, which then gets dropped down 5-6" for the second stage 3 weeks later (or whatever duration strain needs), followed by another drop down for the 3rd stage/flush in the middle of the ' \_/ ' in the final 3 weeks (or as needed).

I'm "hoping" this will be better than my last set-up. Babies won't have to stretch up to the light so much, and the overall canopy will be pretty even. A few books in the past mentioned putting tall plants in the middle, with smaller plants on shelves to the outside perimeter. So that's my goal.
