Do These Clones Have PYTHIUM? *PICS*

From my understanding of damping off, all of these clones have Pythium. Light to dark brown, black, purple (fatal fungus) at the base of the stem... I've also seen a few pics with a little white at the base of the stem.

I don't have any experience with this and would really appreciate any help diagnosing this issue.

Pic 8 looks the worst. Probably damping off. I'd recut then and put them into some drier pellets. The pellets look too moist. Allow the pellets to dry out a bit more between watering - you really need to convince the clones they need to put down roots to survive.

Thnx for the response Anononoymous. A friend told me I should be pouring the light nute solution over the pellets. I guess I should be pouring it into the grodan around the pellet?

It doesn't look like #2 can be re-cut, the purple is running up most of the stem? Any opinions?

Also, I picked up #1 and #2 yesterday at a local dispensary, so if they both have pythium, I feel like I should take them back. Thanks again.

If anyone else has experience with this I would greatly appreciate some more feedback.

Just let the pellets dry out. The cuttings can't take nutes up yet - they have no roots - and it only increases the risk of fungal attacks as the pellets are constantly wet. Don't give nutes until you can see a fair amount of white roots coming out the bottom of the pellets. :leaf:

What's up Anonononymous. All of the cuts had established root systems when I placed them in the gro-blocks. I don't think I should be lifting and checking them because the roots have probably spread to the gro-blocks by now.

I'm still curious about #1 and #2. Is the purple lines running up the stem in PIC #2 Pythium? Doesn't seem like it but? It's an sfv og, if it matters.

Today, I noticed a little algae growing on the gro-blocks. I know algae forms with light, moisture, and a little heat, but unfortunately waiting for a few more cuts. Seems like they should all be transplanted at once.

Will Algae hurt the plants? Should they be transplanted to new gro-blocks or killed with a product?

Also, I noticed coloration differences on some of the clones. The 2nd image has one that seems healthy besides one that has the discoloration. Does anyone know why this is happening and if I should do or stop something to correct it?

I really appreciate any advice and help with these issues. Peace

Seems like ur freakin over nothin really. I mean they're purple but has growth stopped? Leafs dying? Any problems with the plants function (not look) ? I have seedlings pop purple and the stem will stay tha. Way sometimes. If there nothing else wrong just grow in. As for the algae :202 or the like shoulkd get rid of it algae has an appetite for 902 so it will effect growth in that way and many others if u let it get out of hand

Hey bro, no offense at all but, I think you may be over analyzing a bit. I've been growin for a while now and have extensive experience w/ clones (from dispensary's too) and have never come across pythium. Not to say it can't happen. Disp. won't take anything back from my experience unless you buy say 100's of clones a week. Those look pretty normal to me.

As far as the algae goes you can cover the top of blocks w/ cut-out squares of white poly. Shops will sell you equivelent. Shops will sell anything if you buy it.

Good Luck,
DH

I might be erkelsgoo420... Half of them seem to be healthy, but the rest have slow growth, their half the size or less than the rest. And the discoloration doesn't seem normal. Should they be grown out b/c this is normal or not a big deal? I just want to understand, thanks for any advice.

How do you recommend getting rid of the algae so it won't effect growth?

None taken DH, I've been known to do that... I was concerned b/c a majority of them were kept under a dome for way too long. The discoloration on the 2nd & 3rd pic in post #8, is that normal? I appreciate the advice and any in the future.

This happens when the medium STAYS wet.Youll notice if the plant starts to shed skin on the stalk like a banana, itll just peel off.YOull notice the stalk etting thinnier in one spot..ID transplant them into sumthin more dry,or let it dry and dont water as much, but id transplant.

First things first you must be growing in a hydro system if not why are the plants not in soil.I would let the plants dry compleatly out so they are bang dry this inturn will kill the mould when you do feed only feed very little till the problem is sorted. Are you so that it is some kind of fungus and the things that you are seeing at the base of the stem are not just realy young breather roots. Most plants have roots that will grow on the out side of the soil and the light don't effect them this may be what you are seeing. If you are growing in soil get them in a 80% compost 20%perlite.

Thanks to everyone who responded, I really appreciate it.

Here is what I did:
- cut out the sections of rockwool that had any signs of algae growth
-covered all the rockwool cubes with white-poly cut-outs
-let the cubes dry out completely
-re-cut

I am still curious about the discoloration, but I'm guessing it's nothing significant.
