Do you actively pursue your dreams?

Do you take active steps towards accomplishing goals in your life?

Do you do something you're passionate about for a living?

Is it better to settle for something mediocre that pays the bills over something that might not make you a millionaire overnight, but you're happy doing?

It looks like many people - most, even - settle. Most of us are not in the dream jobs we'd like, so we do what we do just to be able to support the lifestyle we've chosen. Do you feel like there is a middle ground where you can wake up and not really like your job, but the paycheck, schedule, location, etc. is good enough to give you fulfillment outside of your job?

I feel like I can never be truly happy if I don't somewhat like the job or career I have, and I absolutely dread spending so much time (not to mention money) working towards something only to figure out once I'm there I hate it. I think it would feel like I just wasted all that time for nothing, couple that with age, it would be much worse at that point.

The risk of failure is always going to be there, no matter what you decide to do, and I feel like the rewards far outweigh the risk if it's something you're passionate about.

I'd love to hear instances like this, where people just said "Fuck it!" and went with it and it turned out to be a success! Building a small company, taking out loans to cover your idea to later be repaid tenfold, opened a successful restaurant, anything!

Kevin Smith's story about his success is really inspiring, dude built up 20K in credit card debt to fund his first movie and it turned out to become a cult classic and skyrocket him and his entire crew into celebrity status! I myself definitely don't have the balls to do something like that and it's hard to comprehend that kind of confidence, especially at that age, I think he was 21 or 22 when he released Clerks.

Anybody have any other similar success stories?

Yes. I don't really understand failure or disappointment. I've tried, succeeded (successful company, sold it for a gross mark-up, stayed on with an option for the golden parachute.) failed (big mouth open, insert foot, back to being bad guy,) succeeded at failing (Number one, baby! Top of the most wanted, dangerous interpol fugitive! Go big or go home!) Now, I'm changing my game, and, I'm putting my number one talent to good use, I'm going into information security management consulting.

The problem is that I hopped on the bandwagon and... well... It was my dream that it would fade away into relative obscurity and for it to never work for an other person after me...

I would say I was pretty fucking successful...

Mission Accomplished...

Yes I do. Not much to say about it other than when you have a dream, no matter how rediculous (and mine usually are) you have to go for it.

i activly pursue many things of my dreams. but they are only given to me from God because ive come up with dead ends on my own. hmm theres gardening, wood carving, clothing design, investment ideas, conservation and elimination of public nessisities such as electricity, water, food. the last one is still in planning. i still have to get the garden fully running and solar energy is still working on my effective means of gathering sun light.
