First off, the splinter groups that loosely identify as the IRA have virtually no support here now.

I dont support them in the slightest, but at least the current dissidents here think (or at least claim to think) they are trying to remove a domestically occupying power...
The historical IRA was turned into the Irish Free State Army upon independence, and that group phoned in their bombings BEFORE the fact.
The idea wasnt to hurt the civilians but to show the Crown that we were more hassle than we are worth and that we can hit them anywhere we want to at any time.
But whatever, history doesnt fit in with your violent, deluded, mentally ill version of the world.
