I'm definitely NOT entering into this debate, but you sure seem to have all the answers, don't you? You must be special. And all along I thought I had to read books and hold discussions to reach truth - all along, I only needed to ask YOU... Can we say, HUBRIS!!!

And I agree that much blood has been spilled over religion - of course it has. But even if there were no religion, do you think all the bloodshed and murder and mayhem would stop? That's SO naive. If man had never heard of religion, we'd still rape, maim, and murder. Hobbes dude. Put men together and they WILL fight. Religion seems to be the scapegoat now, but we'll always find something to fight about.
Yo man I didn't once tell anyone they have to believe what I believe......Yes I have the answers that work for ME I didn't claim to have answers that work for anyone else

You should read my post(if you even know how). I was talking about the every day life in saying it is an arbitrary set of decisions....Because it is.
How do you know everything has a plan?
Everything has a course that it takes. That IN NO WAY means it was a predetermined course that it would have taken no matter what.

Do not insult my intelligence "If you don't know what that means." i didn't attack you personally
If you were intelligent you wouldn't be saying what you have said.

In my view an intelligent mind would think two things :

1. Does everything have a pre-determined course of actions/paths/plan?

2. If everything does not have a pre-determined course of actions/paths/plans then what determines it?

You insulted my intelligence first, I naturally ensured I attempted to insult yours as a reaction ;)

You're missing my point.
Why does something have to have a predetermined course?
Maybe things just happen because they happen? Why does there always have to be a reason?
I simply stated my opinion I didn't tell you that you had to believe it. I didn't claim to have all the answers. I didn't claim to be all knowing

You sure are good at twisting words around. You should look into politics

k its simple, people usualy believe the easiest concept to understand, how easy is it to understand a concept when all it requires you to do is follow 10 rules. the rest is spoon fed to you... and of course the type of simple people that believe 100% in god and the bible and thats that, isnt going to let his simple way of thinking about anything be discredited.

Its not about ease of believing.........
Its about not getting distracted by trying to figure something out that really doesn't matter in the course of my life.

I choose to not try and put a meaning to things and just let go at "it happened because it happened" I can concentrate on things that will actually effect me in one way or another. I can concentrate on bettering my life because its the right thing to do.

All i'm trying to say is you should open your mind.

i wasnt reffering to you at all. i like your way of thinking. but thats exactly what people are doing, wasting theyre lives believing that a story is going to damn theyre souls to hell if they dont do what it says...
thats what i dont understand and thats why i refuse to live my life by paper and ink. i live my life by my own values as a decent human being. thats all anyone should do, but religion has to come along and change that, religion makes wrong actions right, so long as they are done in the name of god... god is nothing more than a skape goat for the powerful, a way for them to stay in power, a reason for theyre followers to fight for what they want. religion is the biggest scandle ever created, designed to keep people in theyre place and powers in theyres.

You accuse me of knowing everything and having a close mind. I do not have a closed mind when it comes to anything but religion.
Look at where religious thought has gotten mankind.
Don't you think we might have been just a little bit better off without it?

Yes I have a close mind about this because obviously having an open mind about religion leads to Suicidal cults, religious crusades, deceit, war, the list could go on.

Now im going to have to type somethings out so you don't twist my words further.

I think having an open mind is a good thing in every case except religion.
No religion is not the only thing that causes those disasters I mentioned.
I do not think the world would be perfect without religion.
In all likelihood it would be something else in its place.

my bad dude it sounded like you were referring to the simplicity of "whatever happens, happens."
and you're right religion makes people blind to real problems

no no no no, i like that way of thinking, you are the only one that can change the outcome of your life, whatever happens, make it happen, and if its nothing to do with your life and will happen after your gone, what do you have to worry about? the world will still spin, god or no.

I believe... and if I'm wrong... did it cause me harm? will it matter???
my sentiments exactly. if im wrong well then in the end there will be nothing. i dont judge anyone for their beliefs. it seems that the non-believers have been pretty critical of what people choose to do. that is what people have said the religous are guilty of.

Let me clarify....if you choose to believe, go for it.But don't insult mine or anyone else's intelligence saying it's true.Because you don't know. I'm plenty tolerant of religious types who don't go around speaking in absolutes,or trying to tell me it's THEIR way or the highway, or even denying facts when presented. I don't know if there is anything out there for sure...but at this point, I'm gonna say, if there is, it doesn't seem to care about us. And I am absolutely against organized religion. So when someone starts spouting off complete bull, I'm gonna call them on it.And if I look like a bitch, so be it.:leaf:

And what exactly do you mean by 'religion'? Explain...
By religion I mean organized religion.

I don't think its so much criticism form non believers because you believe. They are criticizing because religion is actively degrading society with lies and cover ups. Just because you believe its not harmful and you believe some "god" has all this planned doesn't mean its not harmful.

I wish just for one day I could live in a religion free world.

Neither world would be all fairies and rainbows man! Historically, there were numerous cultures without religion and they all fought and killed each other just as religious societies do. Come on.

It's seems as though there's something in our nature that inspires a tendency to fight and protect. I would say it's rooted in biology. Not to be determinist about it, but the issue seems complex.
