Business Insider; China shows off mobile intercontinental ballistic missiles at massive parade in Inner Mongolia;

I know the reason for the difference between the American appetite for war and that of Europe; WWII was fought in their countries. Americans have never known sustained armed conflict on our home turf.

And before some smart ass mentions Pearl Harbor, keep in mind that was a single air raid, without an invasion. On an island in the Pacific that wasn't a state yet.

America will reconsider how it kills people around the world when the world starts killing Americans at home. We aren't special. We aren't immune. And we ARE making a lot of enemies.

What about the little kerfuffle we had from 1861-1865?
Self inflicted, the psychology is different. Also, long enough ago that no one is alive anymore to tell us how bad it really was.

We seem to have the same problem with stock markets.

Wars are generally self inflicted, the psychology would be, if anything be worse, knowing that your brother killed some of your family and was part of the army that burned your farm down. Ken Burns can tell you how bad it was.

That the south is still traumatized is telling for how bad it was. As you inferred, the Civil war was a real war in every sense of the word. It wasn't an invasion by the north's standards, but we've definitely experience war on our soil.

Whatever, the point is that Americans have completely forgotten so now we merely shrug our shoulders and think it doesn't matter when American forces do unto other innocents around the world on the thinnest of pretexts.

Quibbling about whether a civil war is worse or not is weak sauce compared to that.

It was worse, the feds warred on their own people, if they will do that, then killing people brown or black people in another country is easy.

Doesn't make it acceptable and the motherfuckers don't need to do it in the name of my 'safety'.

If you can live with it on your conscience I'm not sure what that says, other than that you're in good company in this country.
