do you even need jars/ buckets to cure?

so lets say i had a humidity controlled cabinet ... i could hang dry first week at 60 F (-70 deg F) @ 60% rh, second week at 60-65% rh by this time the bud is approaching 65% equilibrium (if jared) .. then over the next two-four weeks i could drop daily .5%-.25% rh until i reach 58% ish. then glass.
that would be cured would it not?

honestly this method seems WAY easier than a lot of methods out there.... extremely easy provided you have the space and equipment.

the only difference would be exposure to fresh air/oxygen. the controlled closet would be "breathing" all day long (humidity up fresh air in repeat cycle) while a jar will be mostly stagnant except for the burps.

Thoughts ?

all the fiddle farting/checking/burping is way too much for me, i can't babysit the stuff .... makes drying a curing really hard

I think the jars help to sweat the buds and balance the moisture within each bud so the inside and outside are about the same and so all the buds are the bc same. The small ones aren't too dry and the big buds aren't more wet. I agree with you that its a pain to check and recheck and burp and monitor etc etc A humidity and temp controlled cabinet is perfect to geT them ready to jar up for the last ride. I think I worry too much about the whole process. I actually left a plant I didn't harvest in my grow room for the last YEAR. Well I opened up my room to get it Cleaned up and there it was buds and all dried to a Complete crisp. I pulled a bud off and crunched it up and was amazingly fragrant. So naturally I had to try it. It was good! Nice buzz. Smooth. I picked the big buds and jarred em up and when I opened it the next day the smell was big. Really surprising. Smelled great. Made me realize I worried way too much about the dry/cure phase. I'm not saying it was the best. No way. It was pretty damn dry and it was brown almost gold. Buds were light of course But it wasn't trash either. Live and learn I guess.

i've heard lots of anecdotes just like yours .... Im guessing that lots of fresh air over the cure period isn't a big deal....
after raising a plant from seed and watering it every day for 4 months its hard to not worry... I've always been a big time overdryer... this run, drying for 11 days is by far the longest dry i've ever done by 2x ... so far so good... i could probably murder the cure and still have better stuff than normal.. fingers crossed I'm not going to murder the cure!!! currently sitting in a 5 gal at 62.5 rh .... feelin decent about it, might open the lid tonight since its raining and bring the level back up to 65 and then slowly bleed it off for the next couple weeks ... got an air pump on the 5 gallon and some Bluetooth hygrometers in the bucket.... absolutely love the bluetooth and wifi switches, monitors and controllers , game changer for me.

Your setup sounds awesome. I read about something similar with an air pump and 5 gallon buckets. Great idea! Sounds like you are set.

If you set up a controlled cabinet like that, you can absolutely keep your buds that way. Jars are just way easier for most people, just need to get the RH in the jars to the level you want, then pretty much you can forget about them.

I have a closet in the basement that I hang plants in, sometimes leave them there for months. Ready to smoke as they hang after a while.

Humidity stays a bit higher in the basement than the rest of the house. Doesn't get low until the ac runs in the summer, I grow in the winter.

yeah so it was crazy!!!! humidity around here is like 30% maybe and i had the cab all tricked out with hanging towels fans pointed onto wet rags and my 5 gal with pump set up in there... tranfered the buds to a 2 gal.... then put the 2 gal inside the 5 gal... closed up the whole thing and set the inkbird wifi humidity controller to let that rh gut up around 70 ... then pumped through the airpump and brought the whole deal to 67 ish and let it absorb for an hour down to 64 then repeated the 67 bumb up and then went down and went into the 5 and sealed off the 2 gal for good.. at 64ish right now... just gunna burp in now and then but its about right.. maybe the hygro is off but it feels dry... not too worried, thinking its good to go.. smokes like getting run over by a train and smooth but just outa my 3 chamber as of yet... so it should be pretty smooth . stinky yeah
love it

I hang my weed in my grow tent with around 60% RH and I don't need to cure my weed, it dries and cures by it's self, I leave it hanging for months sometimes and it only gets better, you always want to let it dry naturally, hung dry, upside down, with your carbon filter on. If you follow this method your weed will be great :bigjoint:

You can keep your weed hanging for months if you chose, but realise the ratios will start changing a lot lot faster. Meaning your thc will start to degrade an change to cbn along with other changes. Its always a good idea once the flower is dry and cured to seal it cleaned up in something airtight tight.
Its one of the reasons some of the big pro companies do a nitrogen vacuum seal, for long term preservation. It tends to come out similar to the day it was put inside the seal even months an months later.
