Do you guys believe in extending harvest time because the strain does not look ripe, hairs are not amber goldish color.

Does this increase yeild in any way or is this a waste of time and enrgy.

It is strange because i grow the same strain and sometimes they are ripe and perfect for harvesting by week 7 however other times it seems like the hairs are not the amderish gold color i am familair with as harvest time.

Yes wait until its ready some sativas may take up to 14 wks of flower. The last few weeks is where the thc develops. If u pull early it will taste shit like harsh. It swells up alot in the last 2 - 3 weeks. Wait til trics (resin crystals) turn cloudy or amber at the latest. Use a 60x scope to check. Post a few pics prob give u a better idea.

ok, but the question is.....

I Have a 7 week strain by the end of week 7 sometimes it looks ripe and ready for harvest and sometimes it doesnt.....i am not pulling them early as they are a 7 week strain but for whatever reason onece in a while they just dont look as amberish as i am accustomed to....

Should i be extending the harvest on a 7 week strain to say 9 weeks.... and if so does this increase yeild in any way or is it more just for the hairs to turn amberish

OR

Am i better off to harvest the 7 week strain at the end of week 7 even though i personally dont think there ripe enough and start a new run and therby being 2 weeks into the new run at the same point in timeas i would have been harvesting the previous run .... hope this make sense

It does not matter if its a 5 weeks strain, if its not ready its not ready. Wait for the flower to ripen. I grew mazar-i-sharif i had 1 plant that took 10 weeks but the seed packet said 8 , should i have pulled at 8 ? No , Why? because it was not ready. I'd suggest wait til its done regardless of time! just my opionio.

seems the general rule is to add 1 to 2 weeks to the stated harvest period. you could harvest at the stage but youll get more of a clear, useless high. check out the trichomes. aim for all cloudy with the least amount of clear. ambers good but not too many of them, unless you like to be glued to the couch. this is where youre personal taste comes in.

Does waiting the extra week or 2 produce more yeild or is this more cosmetic like just for the look of the red ambersish hairs....

I run on a schedule i crop every month so i somewhat have to pull them at the end of week 7 , maybe i could push them 1 week max as i have little ones ready to fill that room again...

Any idea if i could anaylse this like the cost benefit to say harvesting 12 crops in a year at the end of week 7 as oppsed to harvesting 10 crops in a year at week 8 or 9with the potentail of more yeild per crop......

there is a general rule like that ?? hmmm intersting....

well i dont really smoke this stuff its more just to get rid off it so i really dont care how it smokes or its affect.... the most important thing is does the extra week or 2 make economic sense to say lose 1 or 2 crops in a year....

Can anyone claim 100% that extending the stated harvest time produces more yeild?

it does NOT increase yeild in any way. what it does si, it increase the high. when you pick a bud thats got milky white trichomes it is like picking a green apple, the bud just isn't dont yet. it the maximum sise, but its just not done yet.

personaly i NEVER harvest at exactly 8 weeks. its fucking RETARDED. yea you get the same ammount of bud, but its of a lesser quality. i allways let it go 10-12 weeks. unless its a "6 week strain" then it gets 8-9...........

i ALLWAYS wait untill the tric's have turned amber, this way all of the THC has been gleened from the rest of the plant into the buds+tric's.

and BTW you dont want amber brown hairs, you want amber/brown crystals.

trichomes=resin crystals on the buds surface. milky white=BAD amber/brownish=GOOD.

o yea, BTW people, off of my SHAKE you can get your crappy white resin high. but if you actualy want to get HIGH let it go brownish golden.

most people on this site look to get high like some highschool kid....... go drink a redbull if you want a crap high like that.

Perfect harvest pic. from FDD's collection........

Thanks u so much for that answer... so for sure 100% extending the harvest time an extra week or 2 will NOT increase yeaild?????

I really dont care about the high as i dont smoke that much its more to just get rid off.....

So based on this info i assume its better in my situaiotn to get 12 harvests in a year ending at week 7 then to say get 10 harvest ending at week 9.........
