I grow in 27 litre Oxypots and 4 plants at a time in a 1.2m x 2.4m x 2.2m tent using house and garden nutes..
My last grow was HSO green crack ...I pulled 642g of dried bud.. That was vegging for 6 weeks and 9 weeks flowering...
I had major issues with power cuts in my area during the grow where the power went out twice for up to several hours at a time which did not help things.
I found the nugs to be more dense and compact than growing under HPS and generally keeps the plants shorter..
The haters on here are going to call bullshit as it fits their agenda.. Say all you like..I am happy with my setup and more importantly it keeps my g/f of my back as the electricity bills are no longer through the roof as they were when I was growing under hps...
i'm growing in a 2ft by 2ft by 8 ft closet using peet moss.and perlite with a little compost thrown and using miracle grow plant food and bloom mix. i'm growing under 3 2G11 55 watt bulbs.I'm getting 0.75 GPW 8 weeks veg, 8 weeks flower. my mars hydro is collecting dust in my storage shed because I got tired of replacing diodes all the time.I'm building a light using vero 18s and a meanwell driver to test but would never use another mars light even if it was given to me.

What kind of ºk and driver?...
Have a great day ★

3 vero18 4000k meanwell 120h-C 1400 driver it"s adjustable from 700-1400ma and will but out up to 108 volts. can easily handle 3 diodes.will be starting at 700ma for 2 small plants in a separate area and comparing performance to 4 plants in my flowering room under 3 2G11 55 watt cfls.(2-6500k and 1-Pand A bulb). IF the leds perform well will increase to 1400ma and use them in my flowering room

I am not sire of the exact number but @1400mA V18 are not very efficient...maybe 38%...42/44%@700mA I guess
But it is still better than a hps or many com panels! (But don't expect more than 1gpw!)
Have a great day ★

my goal with this experiment is to see if they will flower plants as well as my fluorescent lights. HIDs produce to much heat for my situation. my grow closet is 2ft by 2 ft by 8 ft but I do not want to put large holes in the wall for a cooling system and am working on a limited budget. this is a non-profit MMJ grow.even 35% efficiency is better than T5s or similar bulbs. running Crees at low power would be more efficient but also a lot more expensive and my experience with led grow lights in the past has not been very good.but i'm one of those hard headed Germans that just keeps trying till I get it right

2x4... but my tent is actually 2'4"x4'4" so closer to 10 sq ft than 8.

People are always comparing 1000w HPS to a lower watt LED, usually around 600-640w which doesn't always give definitive results... but getting near equal results with +300 watts less is a big deal for some. I'm more into getting as many grams in as small a space as possible and consider 40w per foot and minimum 120 LPW by input to be the minimum as a 'hobby grower' otherwise there's no advantage over HID. Large scale growers might see advantage in going as low as 25 watts per foot, but the efficiency still needs to be similar to the larger HID bulbs. Most of the LED lamps that people have been suckered into buying have poor efficiency, in many cases comparable to CFL.

I would like to see watt for watt grow offs, either 600 vs 600 or 1000 vs 1000, but to my knowledge there aren't any yet.

If someone wanted to do a watt for watt with existing retail products, a 1000w -vs- 6 Area51 150w units. Spend $2400 on the LED and that can happen... which is why large scale growers are slow to adopt. Not just that but there are only a few LED lamp manufacturers that can compete in that category and a whole lot of people got turned of by cheap Chinese lights so there's that bad experience LED needs to shrug off. COBs are fairly new technology and only one company offering so far, soon to be two. In the next year or so there will be some interesting grow data coming in I expect. Eventually someone will do watt for watt grow offs. Beyond that it's just a matter of getting past the sticker shock.
The cheap LEDs are unreliable, also.

Sorry...I meant spyder mite...!
But this light with cob instead of led would have a great cover!

This was a super interesting thread to come across, because my bro-in-law recently gifted me his old Mars Hydro 1600W(with one LED strip burnt out), after MH tried to offer him 20$ off a future purchase as compensation for the broken LED strip. He switched to HPS or CMH. But I digress!

The slightly crippled 1600W seems to be working great for me! I have one month to go at least but here's a pic of the current state of my flowering plants. Just my third grow cycle ever & I'm still getting my nutrients right and getting slowly better at this. Delahaze in the Foreground, a monster-cropped Extreme 10(X-10) in the back. X-10 is my BIL's own hybrid.
What do y'all think about these lights in 2019? What should I get when I inevitably have to replace the MH 1600W?

These both vegged under a Viparspectra 450W.

mars has some pretty OK quantum board knock offs now,, those are thier best,,, but SPider Farmer has them with better chips, for around the same price,, and of couse HLG is the top dog in quantum boards right now,, check it out,, only 213 dollars https://www.mars-hydro.com/led-grow-light/mars-ts-series-led-grow-light/mars-tsw-2000-led-full-spectrum-hydroponic-led-grow-light
