Well, I guess you just sumed up the most idiotic post ever on this site. "bring it on" was a smart thing to say by the dumbest asshole to ever inhabit the oval office,~LOL~, the only person I have witnessed dumber than Bush is possibly you. George Bush is a great man and will be rendered the greatest president of all times. That is even dumber. I should have known you were a wannabee rich prick dumbass when you said you were coming from abject poverty to be a rich asshole within a couple of years. I should have garnered from your pusilanimous puke of thread posting that you were an imbecile and this last post just affirmed my contention. From now on, I will only see your posts as the ramblings of a moron, hey I tried to give you creedence, but you my friend are a typical wannabee and a dumbass. Sorry.

Hey you prick, you can't just go giving away my title without consulting with me first! Coming from a sniveling little imbecile like yourself, it meant a lot to me. I guess I just have to step it up!

In all seriousness, what does the confidence of an American soldier carrying a gun in a foreign place we had no business invading have anything to do with whether or not he should be there from a policy standpoint?

If this has nothing to do with policy, what does it matter in terms of the debate?

Aren't you really telling me I should watch my mouth because an American over in Iraq shooting people is defending my right, not to criticize (as this would harm the morale of the people who have no internet access to these sites, especially not to this one) but to choose to shut my mouth out of politeness while my Constitution gets trampled in the name of fighting a foreign enemy?

You can see why no one [demanding rational argument] regards this as a legitimate thing to hark back to. "Shut up"--even sugar-coated-- is simply not an argument, even if you're trying to peddle it off as for a good cause.

I think people should totally disregard war propaganda like "Support the Troops," "Homeland," "War on Terrorism" and start thinking beyond the confines of engineered labels.

What signs of political progress are there? I failed to see any...

Even if certain victory were three years away, I would abandon this as it is immoral to continue to spend this country into bondage any longer. Freeing Iraq was and is not worth American bankruptcy and it certainly hasn't been worth 30,000 wounded or killed Americans. Anyone so extremely convinced of the justice of hundreds of thousands of dead Iraqis and of the transformation of Iraq into a terror-state through the American invasion and its necessity in light of no evidence confirming Saddam Hussein was any more than a threatening character, has completely lost it in my opinion.

Your arguments boil down to this: We should stay as long as it takes until President Bush or his successor decide that Iraq is safe enough to leave, regardless of the cost in treasure and lives because, disregarding all of the truths listed above, it is either a) the right thing to do, b) the only thing we can do to make sure that no other terrorists (mad at the US for what they view as occupation and an overextension of power on their turf) "follow us home," or both a) and b).

No timetables, no definition of victory except some sort of democratic stability, no way to get there but patience.

This is and always has been rubbish, and it's sad they have otherwise bright people tricked into thinking that fighting to fight is worthy and worthwhile. If they were taxing you instead of borrowing all the money you might have objected, I suppose.

its also quite clear you have a complex concerning monetary wealth where you judge poeple by thier financial assets as opposed to the content of thier character.

I realize it is way above your comprehension, But just why are you equating me with terrorists? The main terrorists on this planet are members of this US government. I realize your brain is not capable of understanding this for some unknown reason, maybe you are just stupid. It's a pure fact that most of your flag waving bullshit on this site comes from a very limited understanding of what is really going on in the world, I mean, come on, you still think the war in Iraq is about terror for christ sake. I guess when God passed out brains you were off in the corner masterbating,~LOL~.
Move to Canada, Marx.

If your friend was stabbed with a knife...would you pull the knife out instantly, killing your friend? Really, if you insist that just because the knife..or the US Military wasn't SUPPOSED to be there in the first place, that we should rip it out regardless of the consequences? All in the name of restoring "what is right?" What is right is to have a REAL plan for success. You saythat you wouldn't let the war go on if there was CERTAIN success...much like you would not take your friend to the hospital for his knife wound, because it would "take too long." You have a one-track mind, with no regard to the blowback that will occur. Go ahead...rip the knife out.

I'm not about to take on the uphill battle of defending Bush, nor would I ever agree with it...but you have to understand that "APPROVAL RATINGS" are not "PERFORMANCE RATINGS" you keep an avatar and a monotone horn at your lips all day long "blah blah blah elites blah blah Bush sucks blah blah there is enough money to go around blah blah" and it never stops. Critisize Bush, fine, but don't come knocking on my door for when you need to explain yourself.

Show me some intellect then I can judge. I could give a fuck how much money you have, spend it wisely. I just believe that people without much money (in general) are no worse than rich people and most assuredly not as selfish or cranky with the rest of the world. I really get peeved by superior attitudes like Hey I did it, everyone can. That is absolutely false. If everyone could do it, they would, wouldn't it make sense. Not everyone can be a brain surgeon, a stock analyst, or an airlines pilot. There are not enough high paying good jobs to go around, so that theory is shot to pieces. There are drug dealers that make more than the presidents salary, but there is only room for so many drug dealers. To make the world go round, you need bus drivers, ditch diggers and carpenters, etc. Those jobs don't do rich. So stop with the everyone can be rich bullshit, the already rich are hoarding the money, you have to be driven and lucky, did I forget the lucky part, I did.
BTW, how do you judge character from a web site? I can see stupid.

i never said i was rich. im trying to keep my family afloat, your right people need all types of jobs, i dont see how this has anything to do with this convesration you brought it up out of no where so I said it must be on your mind a lot i.e. some sort of complex with this issue.

sure theres people who have money and look down upon somone who has a shitty job or less money, those poeple are assholes, shit i know a bunch of poor assholes too so what,

it would be cool if it could work the way you say like somone has to mop floors so why cant he still get a piece of the pie, but there is no way to make that work, cuz peeps would not strive anymore to make a lot of money. so the so called fact that marksism works is not true it will always collapse on itself because there is no incentive to produce more or extra, or go the extra mile if you will. things begin to stagnate, its just impossible medi, is there anytime it has worked in world history?

You do care about who's who in the bank, Marx. Don't deny it. You make fun of me because I haven't quite made my first million in the ring, then trample on the idea of it ever happening.

Its not that EVERYONE can do it...we were saying YOU can. Learn to recognize comradely. The truth is workers make the world go round...and business owners and investors are just as hard if not harder workers than the rest. No one gets a free ride, except welfare recipients.

You are DEAD WRONG on poor people being less cranky and selfish. Ever been to Watts? Bring your assault rifles...I'll show you around. Don't carry cash. I'm only one man.

Luck plays a role for sure. The way I see it, luck is simply where preparation meets with opportunity. Like a "lucky knockout, " the business man gets lucky "making connections." How much does the person have to do before it changes from luck to solid planning? I'm not really sure about that one....

Cuba had a guy who turned his car into a boat...made it to Florida. How great a genious do you have to be to turn a 1957 car into a boat in an impoverished land and save enough gas and all that stuff...

They gave the guy full blanket amnesty and I'm sure he's probably making millions.

Floating Cubans

This page is dedicated to the ingenuity and entrepreneurial spirit of the various Cuban refugees who have attempted to sail to the United States on homemade vessels cleverly crafted from old American cars. Unfortunately, often they have been caught before reaching American soil, and returned to Cuba. Here's to you, floating Cubans! Your cleverness and your persistence inspire me. May you all achieve your goal, and finally reach the land of McDonald's, Disney, and Coca-Cola.
The Original Cuban Truck Raft

The original attempt at reaching the United States was done with a converted 1951 Chevy pickup truck on July 16, 2003. The truck's drive shaft was attached directly to a propeller and the craft could reportedly reach a leisurely 7 knots (8 mph). 55-gallon oil drums were used for flotation. The dozen or so Cubans in the truck were caught just south of Key West after being sighted by a U.S. Customs aircraft.

Another side view of the truck raft.

This valiant and ingenious attempt at fleeing Cuba earned the original crew the proud title of camionautas (truckonauts). Unfortunately, instead of being rewarded for their cleverness, the Cubans were repatriated back to Cuba. Sadly, the pickup truck was also later sunk (reportedly through the copious application of machine-gun fire!) by the U.S. Coast Guard.
Here are links to some news stories and notable websites mentioning the original Cuban truck raft.
Taking the Buick Out for a Spin

In early February of 2004, three of the original truckonauts made a second attempt to reach Florida. Their new, more sophisticated vessel, with a passenger complement of eleven, was crafted from a 1959 Buick: the interior was welded to be watertight, the prow of a boat was attached to the front of the car, and, amazingly, the car was fully functional and still had its tires. Their audacious plan was to reach landfall in Florida, discard the boat parts, and drive to a relative's home in Lake Worth, FL.

There's something about this second attempt that just makes me smile. I guess it warms my soul to think that if you're going to make a desperate seaward journey to flee your homeland, you can still do it in style, and with your hearts full of hope.
Here are links to some news stories and notable websites mentioning the second truckonaut attempt at reaching U.S. shores:
This particular ocean-crossing had a happier result for its intrepid passengers. After a lengthy stay at Guantanamo (during which master mechanic and original truckonaut Luis Grass, who created the original truck raft in 2003, reportedly longingly eyed various military trucks as potential conversions), a group of 20 Cuban migrants, including Grass and his family, was granted passage to relative freedom in Costa Rica.
Update! As of March of 2005, an even happier ending may be in store for Luis Grass, his wife Isora, and their 5-year-old son Angel Luis, as they finally entered the United States—by land! Their incredible 24 day journey from Costa Rica took them through six countries and involved trekking through jungles, hitchhiking, sleeping outdoors, and eventually sneaking through the Mexico-U.S. border from Matamoros, Mexico. Here's a website with the full story:
Let's all raise a mojito to honor Luis Grass and his family for their persistence, bravery, mechanical aptitude, and sheer chutzpah. ¡Bravo!
Taxi, Please!

Not to be outdone, Rafael Diaz Reyes, another of the original truckonauts, made another attempt at U.S. landfall on June 8, 2005. His craft, a converted 1949 Mercury station wagon, appears to follow the design of the second-attempt 1959 Buick car boat. It carried 13 people and was stopped at the usual area just off Key West. The Mercury was apparently originally a taxi. Driver! To Florida, and hurry!

Here are links to some news stories and notable websites mentioning this most recent Cuban taxi-turned-boat.
The fate of this most recent group of truckonauts is at this point uncertain. Their families are calling on the U.S. to provide them political asylum.
