I have always dried my weed in my grow room and anyways had lights on so I was curious if anyone has did one side by side

the question you should be asking is, how much does light degrade the cannabis, you must know it degrades it, or i doubt you would even ask this question.
The answer is a substantial amount you don't want any light after the plant has stopped growing or you are degrading your cannabinoids a lot.....
Maybe even more importantly than no light you don't want any heat what so ever,
so even if you had a blacked out compartment in your grow room the temps are a bit too high,
not only will the moisture content be uneven with faster dries and smoke will be harsher,
you lose essential terpenes at even these low temps,
which are a main component in your high, so a good loss of quality as well as flavour.
The lower the temps the better really, if you can slow dry in a freezing room thats even better as the molecular weight of many terpenes is very low meaning they evaporate at temps even lower than what is needed to grow cannabis.

I strongly suggest you find another way to dry your ......wasted electricity, nutes, water, space, and TIME. Errr i mean Cannabis.
Dont refuse to learn lol, just dry properly and fully experience what you grew, save some to cure if you like, remember dry slow, no heat, fans help and can speed up the process. Additionally too low of a humidity can be bad, it speeds the process up too much this leaves you with harsh smoke, you have to slow dry... try to skip/cheat the process somewhere and it will make the difference otherwise the people who know how to do it would not do it......

I don't think there's a better response than this one lol.

But In regards to the op, thc definitely(scoentifically proven) degrades thc. Which causes a number of other things to happen so...

As far as temps go, i read a good article in high times that suggested higher temps for the beginning of the drying process. It claimed a better quality dry, and less chance of condensation, mold, etc.

You have just answered a question I have had on my mind for years but always forgot to ask. I would just cure in dark room temp places bc I didn't wana risk the possibility of my product degrading but at the same time I always wondered if people were lieing to me or messing around. Thank you.

You can make quality hash oil ..set it under hos or sunlight.. in a matter of hrs it a brilliant red. Without goinginto detail aboutbthat your destroying alotbof your compoumds
