One time a medical student cursed me. He said,

I'll never forget the chinese circulating nurse's response to this. I thought she was going to knife him. She tossed his ass out of the room and almost mine too. Trust me working at the VA the nurses are the power. I spent the next several hours of surgery hearing how stupid I was for thanking him. Oh yes all of it came true.

Nah, 70's were fucked up too. Nothing free about being drafted. The only way I can ever feel right about it all is if I expand my context. 1000 years ago, we were pretty much all waiting to see who the next tribe to ride over the hill intent on looting and pillage was. It's gotten better. It's a process. Give and take, win a few - lose a few.
