Does 400 watt HPS need ventilation?

Hi there. I currently have a 5’ x2.5’x2.5’ tent with a 150 watt hps light with no ventilation other than the 2 duct ports open. I have the lights on 16hrs a day and the temp stays steady at 30 degrees Celsius. If I wanted to upgrade to a 400 watt how light, would I need to implement some kind of ventilation/fan system? I’m most concerned about heat and safety. Thanks!:bigjoint:

Yeah, what they said. Not only the heat but you need to swap out air to control humidity and o/co2 exchange..
As per science Co2 and humidity naturally move from an area of higher to lower pressure/concentration without extraction. This speaks volumes about why plants dont need wind as well :-)

In nature.. but in a sealed tent?
Whos running sealed tents? Mine has vents.

There are many sealed tent experiments online where co2 depletion is measured as a direct reference to photosynthesis and such.

In nature wind cooling of the leaf is called forced cooling, without wind the leaf will naturally warm and produce updrafts thus removing boundary layer conductance or humidity.

mMainly were not runnig true sealed tents, more an enclosure with vents.
