Does anyone have tips for ventilation?

I just started a grow closet, and I'm having troubles with heat. Its up at 90 right now, which i'm afraid is going to light my little plant on . I have 4 computer fans on their way from amazon. It's a 1 X 2 X 5 closet roughly, and I was wondering how I should ventilate it to keep temperatures down. Right now I have two holes cut in the back of the closet, one on the bottom with a fan drawing cool air from it, and a hole in the top to allow the heat to escape. Any suggestions would be awesome!

what kind of light are you using?

Put a few Exhale fans at the top of your grow closet, because hot air is lighter than cold one!
And Inhale fans put as close to floor as possibe, so they suck in cold air. And, additionally, you can put a fan in your growbox for air circulation inside grow cab!

90 degrees and computer fans don't get along. Get a better fan, I try to avoid putting an intake fan too close to the floor as it'll suck in more dust of the floor than u know it. get a nice canfan if you can afford it and don't mind the noise.

I just put dust filter on the fans (120mm) (they cost <2$) and they don't suck any dust in the growbox, but, yeah, if you can afford, then buy canfan

I'm growing using CFL's, and I need the fans to be as quiet as possible. Why won't the computer fans be able to do what I need?

Computer fans are anemic and do not provide enough pressure or vacuum that a grow area need to extract the heat and replenish the air. Get you a real exhaust fan and watch the temps drop. If you are going to do this, do it right.

To get better air flow put the fams up top pushing hot air out and the cool air will be drawn in from the bottom. This configuration would be more efficient/cooler. The stronger the fan up top. The more air flow down bottom.

That's what i'm thinking. I could even put two fans on top, and two on bottom in order to get better airflow. What do you think?

I'm running at 90 degree all the time but the humidity goes down so "its a dry heat." I currently run a 1000W MH and 2 plants, two seedlings, and three clones in soil that will likely die. The mature plants like it so I'm not worried. I vent with a 400 CFM inline fan that cools the bulb/hood and pulls air through a charcoal filter. It the only way I could grow with all the security I need though I first thought I would grow out of doors. Actually, when the plants are under light 24/0 I turn the lights off and put them on the patio during the day to catch real sun. The bigger they get the less opportunity to put them outside mainly due to the theiving kids who roam the condos. Where I live has sunny warm weather 12 months. Some advantage at least. As for the electric bill - the wife handles that and she hasn't told me how much the bill is.

I do plan to reduce light to a 600W HPS bulb that can be dimmed to 300W while I'm on a trip I have to make. I'll have it on a timer and test it before I leave for sure.

Yeah my humidity hovers around 25-30% (If my cheap thermo/hygrometer is actually accurate). I have a fan blowing directly at the seedling and the giant CFL I have, and it keeps the light cool to the touch. The ambient temp is still really high @ 88 degrees, as a result of the emergency blanket I put up inside the cab. So far, it seems like the plant doesn't mind that much, but I'll put in all 4 fans and see how that works out.

1000w is a lot of light for a little space you can get a cool tube it will bring it down about 5 to ten degrees mini ac unit
