My wife said she thinks it looks like some sort of crystalline growth, such as calcium. Do you foliar spray your plants? This could just be magnesium / salts / calcium building up via hard water. If you do foliar spray your plants, make sure you go back the next day with fresh, clean water to get the residue off. I wouldn't be too worried at this point.My wife has a good point. it does look like some sort of crystalline growth. But keep a close eye on it.

keep in mind, not all scale species are going to look them same. I'd entertain the idea that it's scale, research more on that, and see if you can't get a confirmation. I would start preparing, personally, to wage war. Hopefully, thats not it. But this isn't natural. Well, pests are natural. What I mean is, ideal.

No problem! I'm not saying you are a beginner, we all are. Just don't take what you want to hear and run with it. I would seriously look into the possibility of scale, which is a living insect that will vampire your plants.

Just wanna give you a update! You helped me find it! It was a scale bug, it is called Ceroplastes rusci. I would of never found it haha Thanks!

I don't think they are classified as a beetle. They're scale insects. That's why my wife thought it was a calcium buildup at first. A trained eye would have said scale pest infestation immediately. They definitely feed on the plant. He's looking at a systemic pesticide solution, most probably. Systemic meaning, it goes into the plants stems and branches, and kills them from the inside out.

Scale...all day long. Best way to remove it is via a damp cloth and wipe them off (you may need to employ the help of a finger nail to remove any stubborn ones). Scale is highly resistant to pesticides, soaps, etc, because of their shell (scale). I would stay away from any systemic treatment; you're eventually going to smoke or consume this plant, and hence any chemicals that are in it.
