I've read a few people have it but would like to make sure.

The question arose the other day about whether or not it comes with a ballast, from the description I'd think it does but would like to make sure.

The reason being is that I would like to know I could recommend this light to the people who think they can't afford an HPS fixture and are doing small grows. It's $20 so it would be even cheaper than buying CFL's and trying to use them.

If you have this light let us know and give us some details on what you think of it.

Thanks Everyone.

Doubt it comes with a ballast. Shit these is more than 20 bucks in raw material in a ballast :P

Looks like it's got ballast etc. but the bulb is not grow friendly. This is always the rub with "lighting deals" -they come with junk bulbs.

I emailed them to find out.

I'm thinking they will say it does because the instructions say nothing about installing a ballast, they describe the ballast next to the picture and they sell a different one for $5 more and it's ballast description adds 277 to it, so you can do both 120/277 and the $20 only does 120.

You guys need to take some things into account.

OF course for this price it isn't a SunAgro but with the money you are saving you can probably buy one wth the difference.

2nd, I 'm trying to help people who can't really afford to spend that much money on a setup, are they going to do better with 150 watt HPS normal output bulb or a 23 watt CFL warm white from home depot ? It still has the right light spectrums they need to flower on the normal HPS bulb.

While the raw materials seem to cost more you are going by US pricing and these things just came off the boat. They are decent quality, or they were, it's been several years since I ordered from them and I didn't order that particular light fixture.

If you want take a look at this one, it's $42 and does come with ballast.

those types of lights give off way to much heat. thats why nobody uses them. you can take it apart and have the ballast outside the room. if you know a little electrical.
also lots of those only work in a certain position.

a used 400 watt hps ballast is only about 30 bucks and a new bulb is about the same cost.
and like the other posts, the bulbs aren`t verry good quality for growing.
