High all,
Been having a bit of a think and I'm a little concerned about how the recent heatwave may or may not be affecting my organic grow. Tried hard to keep up with the waterings and AACT but the temps were in the low to mid 90's at canopy and i figure low/mid 80's in the soil. Soils been drying out fast even with sphagnum peat moss mulch on top. Can't keep up.
Does this drying out and constant heat affect the soil biology and hence the ability of that biology to make the nutrients the plant needs available and if so then would I be better off switching over to some salt based stuff to see me through these times. And if I did how much could I get away with (EC/CF wise) before I really ought to flush the soil completely and re-innoculate/cook it?
Teaming with Microbes didn't offer much insight into high temps as I recall although its been a while since I read it.
Any theoretical or experienced advice appreciated.
