Does increased wattage require increased feeding?

I read the other day that if you dramatically increase your lights wattage, you also should increase the frequency of your feeding schedule accordingly.
The reason being when you dramatically increase the intensity of the light, it causes the plant to grow faster. Accelerates it's metabolism. Increased metabolism, increased growth, means increased food. Does this make sense? BTW I'm growing autos.

The reason I ask is I increased my light from a 600w HID to a 1000w HID.

Assuming heat, humidity, and possibly co2, are on point, then yes. It's possible you may need to up the ec.
